Saw this sizable nope rope on a hike and bike trail this evening. I trolled my dad hard. He was frantically calling me and I wasn't answering. The text exchange wasn't nearly as funny as what he called me on the phone.

I was going to ask what is the difference between a legless lizard and a snake. I found this on uga.edu (Bulldog herpers?):

Description: 18 - 43 in (46 - 108 cm). Glass lizards are long, slender, legless lizards that superficially resemble snakes. They differ from snakes, though, in that they have moveable eyelids, external ear openings, and inflexible jaws.

Convergent evolution is amazing.
Lizards and snakes having traits evolving to near each other is fairly incredible.
The one that always caught my attention was sugar gliders and flying squirrels.

And by location, we mean specific geograohical area. Ex: Woodlands, TX, hill country, TX, panhandle, Florida, etc.

Bad Ex: Mimaws garage, My front porch, neighborhood FB page, etc.

Narrow it down to a geographic area please!

For those of us who grew up in Oak Hill (before it was SW Austin) a rat snake in the side of the house was a damn near annual event.

I have one of those "Snakes of Central Texas" field guides and they do not list Yellowbellied Watersnake. Is it another name for something else or did they not put it on this guide???

It is also called the blotched watersnake. The yellowbelly name usually refers to older snakes where the blotched pattern has faded to a blackish-brown color is no longer evident. They are both considered subspecies of Nerodia erythrogaster, but in my opinion the difference between those two "subspecies" is probably mostly age.

Not a Mojave. They have fewer stripes on their tail which are also wider, and they have a greenish coloration.
