Recued this guy (i.e. a rough earth snake) from the Socialists last night. Third one I've found in the house in a week, although #2 was beyond saving once I found him.


This was #1 on Saturday morning. Not sure how they are getting in, since I've never found any in the house before. The grey guy has found all three of them, and is consistently catching any bug that gets in the house. He's a hunter, but is 100% inside cat. For the songbirds.

It's a close as I could get zoomed in after scaring it near the green. Look on the far left of the plants in the water. Part of his tail is hanging in the water.

It's definitely an owl... no idea what species.

I see the snake... just didn't know if there was another one honestly.

I would think it's a great horned owl. Too big to be a screech owl, I think a barred and barn owl, would already have different facial features.

Seriously... My mom has probably run over at least 8-10 copperheads on the ZTR this year alone at our ranch. (There is usually a high pitched scream associated with each kill...)

I'm not sure where she finds them as I only seen one alive and I've actually tried to find them. Most are fairly small (12"-18").

Hey, I'm not looking for them, just course of job...usually scouting for pigs. And all in Dallas city limits. Looking for them I could knock that number way up, get a lot of rattlesnakes if O hit the escarpment.

So are snake boots your everyday footwear, or something else? Always was curious about the effectiveness of some Danners or rugged tall hiking boots vs. Chippewa or something like that from a rattler strike.
