I'm outside with the kiddos at the playground and saw the snake slither across the grass, so I started tracking him down with my phone like the paparazzi. Wife and kids came over looking at me like I have lost my marbles (they couldn't see the snek).

After about 5 trips around the tree and much coaxing, I finally got him to calm down enough to realize all I wanted was a portrait or two.

I'm sure the entire family reunion was watching and laughing at the dumb guy circling the tree with his phone out.


The entire time I'm thinking DANG IT!!! I need pictorial proof or the OB will not believe and crucify me for sharing a story sans pic.

I'd just to like to express my deepest apologies. The wife and I hiked about 8 miles today around Perdenales Falls. I fully expected to have some snake pictures to post for you guys this evening and we were skunked!

I walked around staring at my feet all day to no avail, for this I am sorry. Lol

Looks like a rat snake design, but the colors are off. Head looks a little wider. I'd guess not a Texas snake.

Could be just the blurs on my mobile, but I'm leaning towards a mojave rattlesnake. It looks like there are pits in front of the eyes, so I'm pretty sure some type of viper... but I could be way wrong... I'm assuming you are in a somewhat "friendly" state, and would be in its range.

Definitely defer to 12f and other experts tho

I could never quite figure this out. the internet wasn't really around at the time for me to google how to sniff glue and what type. I feel like it's an urban legend. Disappointing.
