Probably escaped pet that froze to death with the cold weather. Also that doesn't look like a meal. It looks like the snake's stomach is bloated from bacterial decay.

This... unless it ate another escaped Burmese Python, that was close to the same size as this snake.

To constrict, yes. To eat, no.
A couple of guys on here with more experience may be able to go into more depth but people have been constructed by smaller snakes than that.
Look up African Rock Python... can eat a lechwe (antelope).
Any snake that gets to 17ft or bigger is not one I would want to be around. Especially if it hasn't eaten in a few months...

I have a feeling it would take a snake much smaller than 17 feet to restrict a full grown male if you're not paying attention. They're pretty strong. I had a snake that was about 5-6 feet and had a tendency to try to choke me out. If he started restricting I made sure to put my arms in the way so he couldn't wrap around my neck bc I probably wouldn't have been able to take him off once once he got around there. Im also much smaller and not nearly as strong as a full grown man though.
My ball pythons were extremely strong at 4ft. The red tails I have handled in the 8-10ft range are strong as hell. It's not really a question of "can they" but moreso of "how likely is it".
At 17ft, that likelihood is a lot higher but still relatively low if you're just walking along a trail. You'd likely have to crawl in for a snuggle to become a targeted food source.

Oh that's true. Mine would do it when I put him over my shoulders. It's not like I was walking by and he'd go in for the kill.
Saw an internet pic by email about ten years ago. It was a snake as big as that 17 footer. The first pic was just the snake but the second pic they had gutted it and he had an adult man in his stomach.
It was from South America and the dead man was at best 5'5" and 150 or so. Back then they did not have the photoshop skills they have today and it looked pretty damn real. I've seen a real video of a snake in Africa eating a full grown antelope so it was possible

Only one confirmed death that I know of where a man was killed and eaten by a snake, but it was a reticulated python in Indonesia and I believe it was 23 ft long. It happened very recently.
Snakes have trouble getting over human shoulders from the top and our limbs don't lie down well from the bottom. Basically we are hard for snakes to eat. The generally accepted size of a snake capable of swallowing an average sized adult human is around 20 ft. Obviously the size of the human is a big factor here.
Snakes are capable of suffocating humans by constriction at much smaller sizes.

Of course the snake is in your grill. It looks so clean, like its never used. Its a perfectly safe place.
