Neighbor found this guy by their pool right underneath a bird feeder waiting for some food. Was going to kill him until I told him he was a good guy and he got that big for a reason

My guess is predated, we have lots of snakes in the neighborhood and by the trails it is easy to see several snakes a day. Good chance it just walked up on one. Besides cats a snake that size does not have much predators, there are a few hawks but plenty of rabbits in the open.

Typically they are shaded and if you are leaving them set and unchecked for more than a day or two you should put a source of water in there

And all the snakes listed are pretty common to South Texas.
