User Agreement and Privacy Policy

TexAgs.com community forums exist to provide the most enjoyable and informative community experience for the greatest number of people.

While TexAgs.com primarily serves current and former students of Texas A&M University, fans of the university and its athletic programs (or other fanbases) are welcome to post/participate provided they abide by the same terms outlined below. By accepting this User Agreement and Posting Policy, you agree to participate according to these terms and post as a respectful member of this community.

User Agreement

We at TexAgs.com cannot review posts or confirm the validity of posted content.  We do not proactively monitor and are not responsible for the content of any message posted.  We do not vouch for, nor do we warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any message.  We are thus not responsible for any content.  Comments on this website are the sole responsibility of the author, and the views and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position shared by the discussion forum or any entity associated with the discussion in question.  Please contact TexAgs.com immediately by e-mail (moderator@texags.com) if you feel any message or content is objectionable.  We can and will remove objectionable messages, but all users understand that it may take time to address the issue in question.  We strive to review all complaints and take objections seriously; even so, it is a manual (and therefore time-consuming) process.

We reserve the right to edit or delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. If you need clarification on why your post/thread was moderated, you may contact moderator@texags.com for further clarification. We endeavor to build a forum community where we can be civil in our discussion of controversial topics and ideas. This is only possible if we are careful to be courteous and respectful of others and focus our posts so they align with the thread discussion.

Posting on TexAgs.com means you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maroon & White, LP (the makers of this forum software) and their agents with respect to any legal claim or dispute.

You remain solely responsible for the content you post on TexAgs.com. We at TexAgs.com reserve the right to reveal your identity and all information we have connected to your identity upon the conditions detailed below in the section Privacy Policy: Third-party disclosure. TexAgs.com  reserves the right and does routinely revoke posting privileges of an individual for a variety of reasons.  You understand and agree to the principle that posting on this forum is a privilege and not a right.  You also agree not to take any legal action whatsoever against TexAgs.com by your participation/posting on this website.

You agree that you are over the age of thirteen (and will act accordingly).

TexAgs.com reserves the right to change the terms of this agreement at any time for whatever reason the owners deem necessary or advantageous.

We do not permit multiple usernames (socks) on the forums - or multiple users per paid accounts.

Posting Policy

TexAgs.com has been around since 1998. We enjoy a thriving community and invite you to join us under our clearly stated terms.  TexAgs.com began as a single forum and now boasts more than fifty forums. With time, each forum has developed into a sub-community with its own peculiarities and social norms.  We encourage you to spend time observing the customs and norms of each forum before entering the discussions.  Please notice the way the forum community responds and reacts to certain topics and posting styles.  While a general code of conduct (do’s and don’ts) apply across forums, some differences in content and enforcement do exist for individual forums.

Posting Etiquette

While moderating, we always attempt to consider the context of a post or thread. We do our best to be fair to all sides of an issue, but this is an organic community and there are limitations to typed text. It is difficult to get entire groups of people (moderators) to agree on the intent of a post and the appropriate response. Please know that we make every effort to moderate as consistently as we can. Moderation actions are made after the fact; in other words, we can only clean up offending content after it is posted. If you see content that violates our policy it does NOT mean a) we allow it, b) that moderators have seen it, c) that it won’t be moderated in the few minutes after you read it, or d) that the site moderators are okay with the content. Please help by flagging for the correct reason.

These guidelines should govern your posting on the TexAgs.com forums. You agree that you will not post anything you know to be or you suspect would commonly be considered a breach of one of the guidelines below.

Any post that falls within the categories below is subject to editing or removal; additionally, the poster’s account may be suspended (banned).

Please avoid posting content that might be considered:

1. Trolling
Please refrain from posting comments that are intended to draw other posters off-sides and not offered as a good faith attempt at constructive community discussion. We remove content meant to provoke and incite conflict within the community.

2. Hyper Negativity
Please refrain from posting comments that reach beyond mere discontent with the topic/decision/personnel in question. This style of posting ruins discussion through repetitive/unrelenting negativity, especially when posted into other-wise positive threads or early in a game thread. It is ‘pot banging’ in the extreme and results in suspensions after clear warnings.

3. Hateful
Posts that contain content that is hateful or intended to dehumanize a person or people group based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, or any other reason will not be tolerated. If you aren't able to discuss controversial topics without reducing the conversation to hateful or degrading remarks, your post will be removed and you won't be welcome to post any further.

4. Obscene or Profane
Please refrain from posting content that is considered obscene or profane. Additionally, we ask that you not work around word filters — they are installed in the forum discussions for specific reasons.

5. Harassing and/or Threatening
Please refrain from posting content that harasses or intimidates or threatens another poster. Examples of this style of posting include following a poster thread to thread in an effort to cyber-bully, sending harassing PM’s, or challenging another poster to a fight in a parking lot.

6. Promoting Violence
We will not permit posting that promotes (or wishes for) violence toward others unless that violence is clearly depicting and/or advocating for self-defense. This includes not posting remarks or jokes that passively suggest an individual or group deserves injury or harm.

7. Ad Hominem Attack
Please refrain from the argumentative strategy of attacking the character, motive, or other attributes of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, instead of addressing the substance of the argument itself. Keep the posting to the argument itself instead of making a personal attack. “You’re an idiot” is a perfect example of this.

8. Sexually Explicit
Please refrain from posting content that is sexually explicit or NSFW (not safe for work). While these lines are difficult to draw with precision, the bottom line is this: TexAgs.com is not the place to find racy content or outright pornography. We also ask that you not link to other sites with this content.

9. Invasion of Privacy
Please refrain from searching for and publishing private information about other posters on the forums (doxxing). Additionally, do not make an attempt to harass a poster off-line: do not visit their place of business, write their employer, or search out their relatives/neighbors. TexAgs has a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who posts private or defamatory information on this forum without the consent of the parties involved. This includes, but is not limited to, posters on this forum, athletes/staff/officials of Texas A&M University, business owners etc.

10. Rumor or Unconfirmed/False Information
Please refrain from posting rumors or hearsay. Occasionally we may remove content based on rumor/unconfirmed reports until more information emerges. In other instances, we may remove content we know to be false.

11. Disparaging a Student-Athlete
Please refrain from posting content that disparages a student-athlete. You may critique a player’s performance without attacking the player. For example, unfounded remarks about their effort, their intelligence, or their character.

12. Disrespectful Poster
Please refrain from posting that targets the site ownership, writers, or insults the forum community as a whole.  It does not foster community or help create meaningful discussion.

13. Thread Derailing
Please refrain from posting content that obviously intends to shift the conversation from the original post/topic and move it to discuss something else entirely.

14. Spam or Promoting Another Service
Please refrain from posting content from like-sites with the intent of promoting other companies. You may not promote businesses without the permission of TexAgs.com. Please contact admin@texags.com for sponsorship/advertising opportunities. We occasionally permit the promotion of a good cause/philanthropic effort when related to a specifically Aggie-centric cause, but only with advance permission. We will make a moderation note on the original post to let the community know it is allowed. There are simply too many good Ags involved in too many worthwhile endeavors to allow everyone to promote their cause - the site would be unreadable.

15. Wrong Forum
Please attempt to keep all threads on the correct forums and post comments related to the clearly defined thread topics. Moreover, Varsity and Premium content must stay on these specific forums.

16. Copyrighted Content
Please refrain from posting long-form articles in their entirety or repurposing knowingly copyrighted content. Please do not post or upload images you know to be copyrighted. Posting links to interesting news articles for discussion (with a couple of lines of summary/or notes of interest) is permitted.

17. Violates the Law
Please refrain from posting content that clearly violates or promotes the violation of laws. We will hand over objectionable content requested by legal authorities.

Moderator Actions

The forums at TexAgs.com are moderated because we feel that it is necessary to maintain the health of this community. The moderators at TexAgs.com have the ability to do a combination of three things when reacting to a post or other user action on the site. The moderator can:

  • Remove or edit the post.
  • Warn the user that a post or subject has violated the User Agreement and Posting Policy.
  • The poster may have their posting privileges suspended for 1 hour, 3 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or permanently. The length of the suspension is determined by the severity of the action, and/or the user’s moderation history.

Posters that have been frequently moderated may be subject to longer suspensions per occurrence.

All questions and comments concerning moderation are to be directed to moderator@texags.com (please allow 48 hours for a response). It is our goal, through this resource, to provide clarity to our moderation actions per the details of this posting policy. Questions or critiques of moderation are not allowed within the forums and will result in the suspension of posting privileges.

Flagging Objectionable Content
The flagging function is an important tool for maintaining the health of the TexAgs.com forum community. The intent of the flagging function is to draw moderator attention to a thread or post for review. If it is determined that the thread or post is in violation of our posting policy moderation action will be taken. However, if it is determined that the thread or post is not in violation of our posting policy the flags will be cleared and the thread or post will remain. We encourage all users to take advantage of our flagging function.

In the event that a post has remained up beyond a reasonable amount of time, emails are to be directed to moderator@texags.com, to inform us of the thread in question. A link to the thread is helpful in expediting the review process.

Personal Attacks
TexAgs.com will not tolerate hateful speech, degrading remarks, or personal attacks made about other posters, athletes/coaches/faculty at Texas A&M University, or anyone else.

Due to the size, scope and diversity of this forum, subjects that elicit differing opinions and passionate beliefs will undoubtedly be posted. Please remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Refrain from attacking users in a malicious manner because of their opinions and remember to direct your disagreement at a poster’s argument and not at the poster as a person. Many good threads have been derailed in the past because they have devolved from constructive debate into name calling.

Criticisms of coaches or administrators at Texas A&M need to be kept to their official capacities as coach or administrator. Attacking these individuals personally is not an appropriate discourse on this forum. This includes calling for the firing of a coach or administrator. This has been a line that we have held for the last ten years at TexAgs.com, from RC Slocum to Melvin Watkins, in not allowing for posters to call for the firing of a coach. In no way does this mean that we agree with the performance of a coach, or are hedging our alignment with a coaching staff or athletic department.

Remember that our student-athletes are first and foremost Aggies. Additionally they work tirelessly through blood, sweat and tears to represent the maroon and white to the best of their ability. They deserve our respect. While on these forums we encourage constructive criticisms of athletic performance, but please refrain from extremisms. For example, there is never an instance when you should say this player is the ‘worst player ever,’ or so and so ‘sucks.’ Keep criticisms of a player to a reasonable evaluation of their performance on the field.

We realize that emotion is a part of sports. Please keep your emotions in check and don’t allow them to overrun rational behavior. Remember that these are 18 to 22 year olds playing a game.

In summary, try to refrain from saying something to someone on the forums that you would not say to them in person.

Posting Pictures and Hyperlinks

All images need to be work safe. This means no nudity, partial nudity, or pornographic images will be allowed on the site. All posts of this nature will be removed as soon as possible, and will result in an immediate suspension from the forums. As a rule of thumb images that may be suitable for Maxim Magazine are not suitable for the majority of the TexAgs community and will be seen as inappropriate by the moderators of this forum, and result in a suspension. When posting an image ask yourself this question, “Would I want my mother or boss seeing this image on my computer screen?” And post accordingly.

Images like the ones that you would find on IMDB.com are generally fine to post on the site.

Anything hyperlinked on the TexAgs forum that is directed to a site with inappropriate material will be considered by our moderators as being posted directly onto our forums. If you link to a site that has inappropriate content you can be suspended per our posting policies.

Premium Content

Content published in any of the TexAgs.com premium forums (Aggies Only, Premium, Premium Pub, Varsity or Five Star General) is not to be posted on any other TexAgs forum, or other sites on the internet. Users found to be posting premium content from TexAgs.com may be subject to a suspension.

Premium material being shared on the other forums is not permitted. You have paid for the right to participate in those forums, but that does not mean you’re permitted to share that information with anyone you please.

We also ask that our users refrain from posting premium content on TexAgs.com from other sites as well. Users found to be posting premium content from other sites may be subject to a suspension.

Usernames

Each person is entitled to one username per email account. Users found to have numerous 'sock puppets' will face moderator action and possible loss of posting privileges. Usernames found to be inappropriate by TexAgs.com will be suspended, and the account holder will need to contact admin@texags.com for renaming the user account and reinstatement of posting privileges.

Using a 'sockpuppet' to get around a suspension will result in a ban for the sockpuppet account, and a lengthened suspension for the original account.

Accounts may not be shared. If an account is found to be shared among more than one person, an indefinite suspension will be placed on the account until the user contacts staff.

Usernames cannot directly reflect the name of a business or organization that is not a current advertiser without explicit, prior permission from TexAgs.

A username may be changed with good reason and at a reasonable frequency by emailing admin@texags.com. Provide the username you wish to change, the email address on the account, and a brief reason as to why you wish to change the username.

Advertisements

Please note that advertisements (including promotion of other sites on the Internet), chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations will not be tolerated on this forum. This includes forum postings, links, signature lines and private messages. The only posters who are permitted to function in this way have been pre-approved by the Administrators at TexAgs.com as paying advertisers.

If a service is requested by a poster on the forums it is permissible to give contact information in response to that specific request.

If you are interested in advertising on TexAgs.com please contact Logan by email, logan@texags.com.

Copyrighted Material

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by TexAgs.com. If it is learned/suspected that copyrighted material has been posted on TexAgs.com by a user, the following steps will be taken:

  1. The copyrighted material will be removed via either the deletion or edit of the post in which it is contained.
  2. The incident will be logged in order to track repeated violations by a given user.
  3. The material should be republished only if said material is confirmed to NOT be in violation of a copyright.
  4. The user will be contacted and informed not to post copyrighted material.
  5. Repeat offenders will be banned from further postings.

When posting an article on TexAgs we would ask that you don’t simply copy and paste the entire article onto our site. Simply post an excerpt of what the article is about, and then link to the original article.
