Hey - for those of us learning which snakes are what, I'd like to request that when you're trying to name a snake, actually say what it really is after the joking.
What I mean is, I understand that everyone thinks all snakes are poisonous flying anacondas and that's what you call it at first, but maybe a little clarity at the end of the post like (snake name). Yay? Nay? Get outta here with that shiznit?

Wife just had me put out bluebonnet seeds in a wildflower area behind our house... seeing 12f pic Really makes you think.

Missed being able to post at the end of the 2016 thread. The speckled king snake reminded me that I saw one of those as road pizza in Port A back in the early fall. I had forgotten to post a picture about it and wanted official guidance. Very cool looking snek. Interesting info about them.
Ready for another year.

Yep. Friend was working in a pumphouse. Never rattled and didn't realize he was there until he saw the tongue flick. Was a foot away for a good while. Little guy was relocated I believe.
Looks like a common grass snake to me. Harmless. Apparently I dug a bunch out of our compost heap and tried to sell them door-to-door in kindergarten.spadilly said:

I don't think there's actually any kind of snake in Texas called a grass snake, but that and garter "gardener" snake label get thrown around a lot when people are unsure

This still freaks me out...
Always appreciate this thread, even though it makes my skin crawl.
As mentioned above, Texas brown snake. Good for the garden because they will eat slugs.
