Given this goes along with Garratt's retirement, hopefully it is more related to him wanting to retire from running multiple restaurants rather than corporate booting him.
He deliberately sold the rights off to Corporate for the expansion in other markets but wanted to hold onto the BCS locations.
IMO - as someone who's frequented both, the BCS locations have always been far and away better in the quality and the true "Laynes" experience vs the canned watered down version you get in the Metroplex.
So I think you're right that he is now wanting to retire and step back/wind down. Makes sense all around.
I'm still a believer in Layne's but they need to poach some of the executives at Canes to help them improve in the quality control and customer experience department.
