I really do not understand rearing back and throwing at 110% on a full count with the bases loaded. i guess the philosophy is it's better to only give up one instead of taking something off and perhaps giving up two or more?

At this point it's a dang good idea if you can get talent in return. Like someone posted, I'm listening to all callers. Your logic about his age and value make sense.

At this point I'm starting to think the Rangers ought to hire the Rays GM / front office. Something needs to change.

Young needs time to make some changes, it doesn't happen overnight. I have no way of knowing if he'll be a great GM or a lousy one, but three things to consider. 1, anything that gives someone other than JD control or input on roster/player decisions is a net positive; 2, he can only make the moves the tightwad owners approve, and most importantly 3, it's way too early to know what he'll wind up being/doing.

I will never understand owning a sports team and trying to do it on a budget. The best teams always spend. DFW isn't a small sports market. Assemble a good team and you won't have to worry about profit margins

It is an investment for these guys. Historically sports franchises are very good investements.

They could have sent them to the Texas Rangers Foundation and let them sell them all - even at face value - for a donation to their own Foundation. Instead they went cheap so they wouldn't have to buy new things for this year and keep trying to spin creative ways on pitching these things all year.

I don't really have a problem with the "re-gifting" of 2020 promotions. Coming in to 2021, most people were unsure there would be anyone allowed in to the games or if the season would even start on time. I can understand why they didn't have promotion ready for 2021.

Our ownership team is cheap but I don't fault them for the giveaways.

This is the exact reason we didn't have new promotions this year. What's funny is if we didn't have any promotions at all this year, fans would up be up in arms about it. It was a lose-lose situation to begin with

Yes, but it's probably part of the deal that they have to actually be distributed.

Saw an article on the MLB app about Cole Winn and Hans Crouse in double A. Winn has a sub 2.00 ERA, and Crouse is right at a 2.00 ERA. It's still early but as I've said before I think I might actually cry tears of joy if we can somehow find a way to get a homegrown ace pitcher. Winn seems more consistent but Crouse may have the higher ceiling from an arm talent perspective. Going to be interesting to follow their continued development

well, the Rangers need to either sign him long term or trade him. Since his agent likes to take all his clients to free agency, need to trade. I'd love to have him anchor RF for the next 8 years. But unless Boras let's him get extended now, he's gotta go.

Why?

Well, big left handed power hitters are a valuable thing. And I've seen way too many of these guys mature well into their 30's. It's a moot point though - if we can't get him signed now - and we won't - he needs to go.
