The starting pitching on this team is beginning to live up to its expected level prior to the season......horrendous.

Kyle Gibson has been great since the opener. Beyond that, Dunning shows some promise. After that I got nothing.

Anemic offense shows up way to often where we struggle to put up even 1 run.

I'm not really even seeing a whole lot of promise in Dunning

He has had some good outings, but he's definitely got to solve his first inning issues.

2.08 ERA in Double A so far this season. I might actually cry tears of joy if we are able to develop a homegrown good starting pitcher. It's what the franchise has needed for about a decade at this point

This is why we need to draft the best college pitcher available in the draft with our first pick.

Dane Dunning shows a lot of promise but you gotta set expectations. He's a 4 tops - an innings eater. We have too many 4s and not enough 2s.

If you need something to listen to this afternoon, they talk about El Bombi about 20 minutes into this episode (for about 5 minutes). A lot of good. Big concern is how low the walk rate is compared to K rate, but he has been bringing his K rate down. Talk about how fun he is, as we all know.

If this rotation gets to a point where a developed dunning is the 4th man up, we're doing pretty well.

John King has very quietly had a strong season. I think he has been hurt the most by the 3-batter rule...his splits strongly favor him against lefties. I am starting to think we should trade Joely R early in the year (we're not going to get much for a rental reliever anyways) and let John King take the role.

So apparently Marcel Ozuna went nuts to the point that he didn't notice the police enter his home and witness him slam his wife against a wall and try to strangle her. That dude will be lucky if he ever plays again. I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't.

Ran across this (from yesterday) that was interesting. Injury status info on Rangers and the minor league teams. LINK

Recap of some of the more prominent minor league names that I noted:
Huff: approx four more weeks eta for return to action; ;
Jung: next "few" weeks;
Phillips: hopefully not serious;
Wendzel: 6 weeks;

Rangers Injury Report
10-Day Injured List
  • David Dahl (left rib cage contusion): Will undergo further evaluation for any structural damage after crashing into the wall on Tuesday night in Anaheim.
  • Kyle Gibson (right groin strain): Gibson has been pitching through the injury and the Rangers wanted to get out in front of it with a stint on the IL. The Rangers don't believe the injury is serious, and Chris Woodward even pointed to a possible return to the mound on June 4 vs Tampa Bay at home.
  • Hunter Wood (right elbow discomfort): Wood has returned to his home in Arkansas for a few days for the birth of his fourth child and will be further evaluated on his return.
60-Day Injured List
  • Kohei Arihara (right shoulder surgery): Arihara had procedure Thursday morning for repair of posterior circumflex humeral artery aneurysm in right arm. Procedure was performed by vascular surgeon Dr. Gregory Pearl in Dallas and went as expected. The aneurysm was removed and artery repaired. Arihara will have a follow-up visit in about a month with no throwing in the interim.
  • Matt Bush (right flexor strain): Bush is currently in a six-week shutdown, then will undergo an MRI. It's looking like the soonest Bush could come back is around the All-Star break.
  • Kyle Cody (right shoulder impingement): What was initially ruled as just inflammation, Cody's injury is much more long-term than expected. His timetable remains unclear.
  • Ronald Guzmn (torn meniscus in right knee): Guzmn underwent successful season-ending knee surgery on April 28.
  • Jonathan Hernndez (Tommy John surgery): Hernndez underwent Tommy John surgery on April 12, which was performed by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. He will be sidelined for approximately 12-14 months.
  • Sam Huff (arthroscopic knee surgery): Huff was near the end of his rehab regarding his hamstring injury, but tweaked his knee in the batting cage near the end of minor league camp. Huff had surgery on April 28 to remove a "loose body" in his knee. His prognosis from the time of surgery is eight weeks.
  • Jos Leclerc (Tommy John surgery): Leclerc underwent successful Tommy John surgery on March 31, which was performed by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. He will be sidelined for approximately 12-14 months.
Rangers Minor League Injuries
  • Justin Foscue (High-A Hickory): Will miss a few days due to rib contusion.
  • Josh Jung (Triple-A Round Rock): Jung (left foot stress fracture) is increasing his baseball activity and could return to game action in the next few weeks.
  • Joe Palumbo (Triple-A Round Rock): Is not expected to throw for approximately two weeks due to back strain.
  • Tyler Phillips (Double-A Frisco): Phillips left start on Wednesday with right elbow stiffness. No throwing for a week.
  • Yerry Rodriguez (Double-A Frisco): Rodriguez was hit on the right wrist with a line drive in Friday's start. X-rays negative. It is being diagnosed as a right wrist contusion.
  • Alex Speas (Double-A Frisco): Diagnosed with right elbow inflammationno throwing for four weeks, then re-evaluated.
  • Davis Wendzel (Double-A Frisco): Sustained a fracture of hamate bone in left wrist on Tuesday nightwill have surgery in next few daysexpected to be sidelined about 6 weeks.

Just looked it up, he is at 36 AB's right now. I suppose he should at least get 50 AB's before cutting him loose to see if he can get in a groove (pretty doubtful imo). But sometime sooner than looner we should eat the salary and give those AB's to someone else.

Agreed. Still looks like it was the right move to make. IKF has been solid at short.

For sure IKF has been an upgrade over Elvis. Davis was just included help wash out the bad contract money, but at least he is just signed for 2021.

Extra base hits in 4 of the last 5 games for Joey now. Would making losing so much a lot more fun if we could get both good Joey and good Adolis at the plate at the same time.

That strike 3 call on Holt is inexcusable as an MLB ump. That was a foot outside the plate.
