My buddy that grew up in Chicago called me earlier and explained the play to me. I asked who the hell they were playing that would screw that up. He told me they were playing the Pirates. Said all I needed to lknow. That play is just, I don't know. Way worse than the Seattle catcher a few weeks ago going for the "force" out at home plate against the Rangers.

What are they teaching these kids at AAA?

I can get past the sloppy throws, the one from third to first and pitcher to 2nd covering first. What I can't get past is where the hell does the defense think the runner is going to go? It's not.like he can go stand at home plate like its a regular base. It's a force play, he HAS to go to first. I know it is a brain fart. It happens, but the concept of it just baffles me.

If you are going to give a throwing error on the last throw, and I'm not sure there should be, I think it is E9. I think that was the RF almost up on the infield dirt that goes chasing the E1.

That wasn't a FC. The guy from 3rd would not have scored and Baez doesn't reach.

A good throw from 3B and Baez is out and the guy at 3rd remains at 3rd.
How is that a bad throw from 3rd? With 2 outs, it's nearly automatic that the runner is tagged or the 1B takes two steps back to touch the bag, inning over. The runner at 3rd is a non-factor imo.

I'm sad that Jomboy had to use google to confirm that even if the runner crosses the plate before the hitter is out, the run doesn't count. He just lost some points along with the Pirates

I think it was particular to if he was tagged. One of those things that because of the way this went down I think it raises some doubt.
