We have no interest in rentals and probably won't for a long time...if ever again. That's how we got to where we are now back in 2013-2016.

Lots of teams do rentals especially if they are in serious contention for a deep playoff run. We are not in that position, so I agree with you in that we should not be looking at rentals this year.

With that said, it would not shock me if we stayed stagnant this year at the trade deadline if we keep playing the way we are playing. At some point, we have to take steps to exit rebuilding

The problem is it seems like we haven't been able to offer a "rental seeking" team anything good enough to move the needle on a rebuild since Mark Teixera.

The "plan" was to use the trade deadline the last few years to expedite the rebuild and every single august we're given the same excuse that the market is too stingy and we didn't like the offers.

If we always hate the offers for our guys and the scouting department sucks at drafting which it seems like they do, then when the hell is this rebuild going to end?

If we trade Gibson, Gallo, and Joely... we are still rebuilding in 2022.

Gibson: 2.28 ERA in 8 GS, 47.1 IP. Owed $7.7M next season
Joely: 1.86 ERA, in 10 GP, 9.2 IP. Owed $3M next season.
Gallo: .214, 6 HR. Arb3 next season. Paid $6.2M this season

We would need another Best SP, Best RP, and solid RF for less than $20M.
No matter what we are still rebuilding in 2022. Sorry.

Man, I long for the good ol' days when you could turn on the tv, go to the guide, and click on the Rangers game. Bally Sports is pure AIDS on both the desktop and the smart tv via the internet browser (they don't even have an app). Fox Sports Go was fine, but alas, they finally made the switch a few weeks ago and it's been awful.

If he can stay off the injured list, he'll be playing for quite a while. Love to see him succeed after he transformed his body to get in better shape and also improved some defensively.

Culberson just doesn't seem like a player with good fundamentals. That's at worst a infield hit... Should be a fielders choice out at 3rd. Instead its a 3 run double.

Seriously. He had all day to get in front of it. Instead goes with the ole **** which is the only way a bases clearing double happens. His ass should get chewed. That was straight-up half-assed baseball

Serious question...what do you think acquiring any of these players you keep bringing up is going to accomplish?

Those aren't the type of game-changing talents that are going turn this team into a contender. What exactly is the point? I'd rather watch this team lose with kids as opposed to watching them lose with a bunch of retreads on the downhill side of their careers. And giving up ANY decent prospects for those type of stiffs would be colossally stupid.

I'm really struggling to see why you keep beating this particular dead horse.
