Holy crap. So next season, are they gonna be back home trying to get back to the island?
Oh man, I hope the show didn't just jump the shark.
I don't get it at all. Was it a flash forward or flash back? Have they previously been on the island and the time they're actually there now is Jack & Kate's second go round?

The guy Jack was talking to was Jack's dad's replacement as chief of surgery. I think Jack was just saying that to rationalize/minimize his drinking.

wow. thats all i can say.
i think the flashforward was a one time thing. i think when they return next season, the rescue attempt will have failed/or will be some trap.
i think the island will remain the setting of the show, but we now know that Jack and Kate make it home.....and it may not be for the best (at least for jack)

I think that it was definitely a flash forward, and that Sawyer is in the coffin. When Kate said "I have to get back to him" she was either talking about the son she and Sawyer have, or him is Sawyer and its someone else in the coffin. I can't think of who else it would be, but it definitely was someone who upset Jack when they died, and someone who wouldn't have anyone show up to their funeral.
But he said, "Go see my father upstairs and see if he's drunker than me" That sounded like his dad was definitely still alive to me.
So who was in the coffin?? Ben?

maybe they had to leave some people behind on the island and that is why Jack feels the need to go back
I have no freaking idea what's going on. I'm more confused than ever. and trying to figure it out makes my brain hurt.
Damn, this kinda ruined the show. Whats the point of going through all the stuff if you know what happens in the end? Since the shows got 2 more years left, i'd assume next year will be getting off the island/fighting the "real" bad guys, and the last season will be them getting re-acclimated into society or whatever. I don't quite know how to feel right now...

I think that was awesome. LOST isn't going to be a show where they are rescued and everythign is happy ever after.
Lucky for me, I have been busy with Bar classes and missed Redstones spoiler. This episode was GREAT, if you didn't know what was going to happen.

I thought there was 48 episodes left with 16 being shown for the next three years??
napalm, remember at the end of last season the people she had looking for Desmond found the island, so she was probably constantly trying to send a signal through, and thus she was there when the jamming stopped.
Someone (Spaceship) ruined the whole Jack flash-forward thing for me, so the whole episode was kind of blah.

Overall, the episode was awesome. There were tons of hints like "do you know what I've been through?" but it wasn't until I saw the map that I knew for sure my initial guess 30 seconds into the show was correct.
Of course, it's a high risk/high reward move. It will either be amazing or catastrophic in the long run. I guess we'll find out...in 2008.

I missed his spoiler, so YES I thought it was great.
Yeah, I remember those guys in the artic station working for Penny. I guess I wonder if there's more to her involvement than just searching the world for the man she loves.
As far as people saying "Jack's dad is still alive", I thought it was pretty obvious that he's kind of gone out of his mind. When he said to bring his dad in, the doctor looked at him all sad and he yelled "Don't pity me!"

tonights episode was almost as stunning as Christopher's demise in the sopranos.

I don't know why people are so positive that the endgame of the show is inevitable now. Aside from that fact that that could have been *A* possible future, there are freaking time travelers on this island.
All bets are off.
One thing seems to be for sure - Naomi is a fraud, but, damn, just who the hell WAS she? Why doesn't anyone on this island ask some freaking questions?

Not so much as a "Who are you? Is he my father?" etc...
I have never been so enamered and awed by a show like this one. Wow. The producers completely changed the rules of the show and, in a way, made it more interesting. Now, the idea of the Losties getting saved as the vocal point of the show is gone, and we are only left with the idea of what the island actually is. In a sense, getting saved may cost them more then they realize at the time. Absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. And, by the way, the people who doubted this show probably feel retarded right now.
If that was Jack and Kate's 2nd time on the island, I highly doubt Jack would want to leave again, plus acting like they didn't know each other all this time would be kind of pointless.
holy **** what a great episode. blew my mind. i definitely think it's Ben or Locke in the coffin. Kate could hate them both, or maybe Locke gets back against his will, his legs stop working, and he commits suicide or something and Jack blames himself. Think about it...locke had no family or friends, hence, nobody at his funeral. just spitballing here as i'm still reeling from that episode. way too much to think about.
