What was Desmond's girlfriend's name at the end of last season? I was thinking Penny or something like that, but I can't find her on IMDB. I was thinking at first that Juliet was her. Was it, or did it just look like her?

Also, I don't think Juliet and Ben were married, or even an item. I think the conversation just turned to what he would read because he is their leader. That was why Juliet went off about "free will".

I'm guessing Ben/Henry Gale was guy fixing the plumbing that we only saw the legs of. It kind of sounded like him.

That was Ethan fixing the plumbing. And a little FYI, the actor who plays Ethan is Tom Cruise's cousin. He had bit parts in M:I2 and Vanilla Sky as well.

Also of note, and as a quick recap...

- Henry Gale's real name is (obviously) Ben, whom Juliet & co are referring to in the opening scene at their book club meeting.

- After looking at a couple of screen caps, the book they're reading, which is Juliet's favorite, is "Carrie" by Stephen King (who is a huge fan of the show and even wrote an article about Lost in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly).

- The last thing Juliet says before they hear the plane crash is, "Here I am thinking that free will still actually exists on the --" It's obvious she was going to finish that sentence with "island." So as "normal" as this little community may be, it seems her sarcastic comment implies that Ben has even more control over the whole thing than we (or they) may think.

- Juliet is obviously somewhat depressed/struggling, per the opening few seconds of the show. I think this is going to lend to her eventually turning on The Others/Ben and helping Jack. Just like Jack and Locke, Ben and Juliet are, from the opening scene, made to be opposites. I've never read "Carrie" or seen the movie, but its central theme may allude to the specifics of Ben and Juliet's respective philosophical views.

- That being said, when Ben was being held captive in the hatch, I remember him asking if they had any Stephen King books to read while they held him prisoner. I think this was just a little nod to himself, trying to seem dumber than he really is.

- Zeke makes reference to the bears that once inhabited Sawyer's cage. It's safe to assume this explains where the polar bear came from.

- Zeke also may be gay, telling Kate she wasn't his type.

- Hearing Jack's dad say "Let it go" on that intercom system, combined with Jack "seeing" him on the island in the first season, really makes me think he may still be alive. Then again, it's probably just all part of Jack's stress/hallucinations.

- Who the hell is Carl (probably an Other)?

- And Julie Bowen is hot. That is all.

I'm starting to think that maybe Jack has a couple of screws loose.

They said that the drugs Jack got from the tranquilizers will make him dehydrated and start to possibly hallucinate.

Good episode, the way it ended was great. When Jack had a chance to find out his name, he just asked if she was happy. Which hopefully means that he can finally move on passed his ex wife and persue other love interest (Juliet?). Also, it seems that they will definetly have Sawyer and Kate hooking up which will leave Jack with a sour taste in his mouth.

Finally, the previews for next week looked great, but what is a pregnanat woman doing on a ship with a gun involved in a rescue mission?!?

Two things:

- Why do the "Others" have CDs while the people in the hatch only have records?

- Does anyone else think that the “drugs” they injected Jack with was a psychotropic hallucinate that will cause him to have flashbacks that he says out loud? That would give the “Others” the ammo to make is father’s voice come over the intercom.

I think the drugs were to get information from Jack. They didn't really have all of his information, or "life" in the file...they just got it out of him while he was under the influence of whatever they gave him.

Then they used it to mess with his mind.

Given the amazing physical strength Ethan and Goodwin, I don't think it's absurd to think that Juliet might have similar abilities.

He has had nothing to eat or drink in a while, not to mention walking across the island w/ Michael in the finale of season 2. I don't think it is a fact of her or the others being super strong but the surviours becoming weak from being on the island and living the way they have for a few months.

This has been bothering me for some time. Ethan whooped Jack's butt. I've been waiting for them to explain this. I guess that makes Echo all the more bad-azz since he killed a couple with his hands.

I don't think you can patently dismiss that possibility. Jack's encounter with Ethan was within the first month, and if you believe that Ethan killed Scott Jackson, then you'd have to grant Ethan had heightened physical strength due to how every bone in Scott's body was crushed.

At any rate, given the better-living-through-chemistry lifestyle that is the Dharma initiative, I don't think you can dismiss the fact that some of the Others may be super-strong. This may not be the case when in comes to Juliet, but it's a possibility.

This was my initial thought right when I saw the guy...it all just seemed kind of set up.

However, the more I think about it, maybe that's what they want us to believe. Wouldn't surprise me if the other cage guy and the escape were real

Good start to the season. I think Juliet will turn due to the way that Ben abandoned her to drown with Jack when he opened the door.

I also questioned the knockout punch.

Sawyer again had the best lines with the naming of Chachi.

I call people I don't like Chachi all the time.
