Regarding the fence. Why not just keep running thru? The guy kind of just stops at the fence and his head explodes. Kate was standing right next to him after she jumped over and nothing happened to her.

The explanation will probably be that it hits you with a powerful sonic shot that immediately screws you up... so, even if you ran through you'd still get hit and it's enough to kill you.

The season finale of Season 2 showed Desmond's Ex-girlfriend talking on the phone with her research station in Antarctica who detected the explosion of the hatch...there's been no mention of this since...I wonder if she's going to show up sometime soon.

i think the idea the other poster was saying is that Locke was a merc for DHARMA, sent on the plane to get to the island and kill the Others who may or may not have been "at war" with the DHARMAites. still too far-fetched in my opinion.
personally, i think John is going to go after Ben only to find out too late that Ben is the only one who knows how to get off the island or something like that.

I always just figured that Locke was upset that he wasn't one of the people that the Others chose to snatch. Didn't Ben tell him that he wasn't worthy or something? Maybe he is just looking for revenge for feeling slighted.

i think Locke doesn't want to leave the island
didn't Ben tell Locke that he came to the survivors for Locke? and then the patch guy says that Locke wasn't on the list...so Locke wants to know why Ben would tell him that, maybe.

I thought for a second they were going to screw with us by having it NOT be his father.

That episode was simply outstanding.
I felt that when they finally told us how Locke broke his back it was going to be anticlimatic, but that was pretty crazy.
Ben is an incredible character. That dude should win an Emmy for his role in this show

He was originally only going to be in a few episodes. They thought the actor was so outstanding that they expanded the role.

true...always a possibility. However, how long would the have had him...since the sub would not have been able to find its way back to the island without communication (due to the anomoly).

Well, duh, the smoke monster brought him. It can travel through rips in the space/time continum. It just zipped to Mexico and picked him up once Ben sent it after Locke went to destroy the submarine.
Now, all kidding aside. We do now know that Hurley isn't responsible for Locke being paralyzed.
I loved the episode, but it is funny that people will be so happy with this one despite it raising just as many questions as it provided answers. Was Cooper the man from Tallahassee (sp?)? Whose this new other that is Ben's right-hand man (Ben not caring that he said he could be ruined without Locke in front of him)?
