Anyone else catch when Locke and Echo were pushing away the boulder from the plane? My wife says when they're struggling to get the last boulder "it's like Jesus' tomb...they're rolling the boulder away from the tomb. I bet there's no body in there". Just then, Mr. Echo sees that his brother's body is gone.

My wife's smart like that. We can't figure out the significance though...just a reference to his beliefs or what?

Gotta disagree with the people upset about this not being resolved. Ecko's story was totally complete. They weren't going to give us resolution on the monster/Yemi and they may not ever do so. The show's about the characters more than the answers.

Ultimately the cloud judged Ecko. I don't know if it reached that point with Locke or if Locke saw something else.

The one eyed man is wearing a Dharma jumpsuit. (BTW, a glass eye was found by the Tailies in the Arrow) It seems clear that Dharma is still active on the Island in some way or another. I think it's interesting that we've seen no real connection between the Others and Dharma. Are/were they part of it? Subjects? Renegades? I really hope they don't kill of Ben. He's too interesting of a character at the moment.

That was a great episode... how quickly it seems so many of y'all lose faith when something unexpected happens that makes you sad. I'll definitely miss Ecko too, but the show was great before him, and the show will be great after him.

I love that EVERY character is in jeopardy. That's what keeps me coming back every week... and Kate.

I had the exact same thought, but I was almost afraid to say it out loud.

I thought this was a good episode. From the beginning, when I saw that they were going to spotlight Ecko's story, I had a feeling they would kill him off and I think they did it right. Hopefully next week's self-proclaimed "Best Episode Ever" will keep me hungry for the spring

The moral from last night's episode is clear. Don't get arrested in Hawaii or your character will be killed.

Anna Lucia, Libby, and now Eko. Anyone want to set an over/under for episodes until Bernard gets arrested? I'm going with 10.

I don't recall any indication someone was going to die this episode, especially not someone as awesome as Mr. Eko.

Then you must be king/queen of avoiding spoilers. I'm the most anti spoiler person I know and I knew it was coming since last week. It was even in the previews last week. I wish I hadn't known. Would have had more impact.

Did anyone else think with the two new characters joining the adventure with Locke that they were the "Ensign Smiths" from Star Trek about to be killed?

I kinda knew it was Eko, but hated to see it.

I keep tuning in for shots of Sawyer shirtless.

Does anyone else think that Juliet is setting up Jack to kill off Benry so that she can become the leader of the Others? Or is she just playing with his mind like Benry said they would when they were going to “break” him. Is she gaining his trust to turn him to the dark side?

I suspect Juliet is not as helpful and nice as she's presenting herself to be.

I think the fact that Sawyer said he knew that Juliet would execute Kate is very significant.

***WHINER***

If you are going to post spoilers...please mark your message ***SPOILER***

If you are going to whine...please mark your message ***WHINER***

That way I can skip your whiny little "this show sucks" post, even though we all know you'll continue to watch it. It seems some of you haven't realized that ALL the mysteries cannot be solved whenever you choose. This show is not about the destination, it's about the ride. I know we live in an instant gratification society, but you still have to wait until December 25th to open your presents.

Otherwise, I really like the whole Juliet VS. Ben dynamic. And, Eye Patch Man (EPM) opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.

Edited for Rudyjax...

i dont see why everyone hated this episode so much. as pissed as i am that they killed off eko, the writers have said they had the plot written out for 5 seasons so i trust that they know what theyre doing. and even though there were a lot of directions they could have gone with ekos story, they finished it just like they have finished everyone elses story that they have killed(besides libby, but she'll probably be appearing in more of hurleys flashbacks).

although i do think the whole "smoke monster" thing is ridiculous. i feel like a lot of the stuff on the island could be explained without some kind of supernatural power coming into the discussion. but now that the smoke monster has actually killed a main character instead of just appearing i'm really interested to see how they explain this.

They have a general guideline, not episode by episode plots. Henry was originally only slated to be done with once he escaped but the character was so popular they expanded his role to what it is now.

sometimes i wonder if the writers forget about things they have introduced in the past while they are putting together the story for new plot developments. For instance, are we ever going to find out why the others wanted the kids, why Walt is so "special" or what is the deal with Claire's baby?

Its 'BENRY' gawd damnit.

and while i was disappointed a little let down with Ecko's death, i did think they wrapped up his story-line pretty well.

as far as juliette and Benry, i too think shes not as nice as she is leading jack on to believe.

i think the smoke is total horse**** but i still liked the episode. eko's speech about not being sorry was one of the most powerful moments of the series yet IMO.

also i think the storyline surrounding jack/sawyer/kate is absolutely fantastic, so good that it is carrying the show right now.

What does it mean when Yemi says

"You speak to me as if I was your brother?"

Since he was hallucinating, was it something on the island that portrayed his brother. (smoke?)

Eko kept saying "Who are you?"

^^^ hope you're being sarcastic.

Smokey can obviously read minds and appear as various things (e.g., Ecko's brother). Now, the only questions remain:

1) Is Smokey a DHARMA project? If so, is it still under their control?

2) Why is Smokey toying with people and why does it care about such things as repenting?

I don't remember that! When and in what context did he say that? That could be a very telling remark because in this past week's Entertainment Weekly they had an interview with the chick that plays Juliet and she took a break from the interview to shoot a scene and

******POSSIBLE SPOILER*******

in her scene she went over and picked up a gun and put two bullets into the chest of someone that will shock everyone!

Is it Kate?

With as much as they're putting out there, I've got a feeling that there are going to be a lot of things left unanswered.

Much like the Russian in the woods from the Sopranos.

It was a few episodes ago when they had Sawyer and Kate out doing manual labor (moving rocks or whatever). Sawyer started a fight, and in a conversation with Kate afterwards, he was assessing the fighting skill/experience of each of the Others and concluded most of them were amateurs. But he said Juliet was the cold-blooded dangerous one and wouldn't have hesitated to put a bullet through Kate's head - or something to that effect.

Did anyone else think that Juliet was about to committ suicide/die when they were having the funeral and she was talking to Jack and she just goes "bye, Jack." I guess it was a little weird and I thought to myself, she's about to be burned.

Has there ever been a WTF show around?

Clearly, you aren't familiar with Twin Peaks.

I loved Ekko as a character. Lots of depth. I did feel like his story was resolved. He came to acceptance of the fact that life in Africa is hard, and you can't always be a saint. I too, immediately noticed the biblical symbolism with the stone and no body in the plane. Glad I wasn't the only one.

Sorry if yall think this show has taken a bad turn, I just feel like its a show that understands that it can't be about the same thing every week; rather it must evolve and continue onward. I like that they are willing to be that progressive. Some will not like it because it is too different than it began, but it really isn't.

The heart of the show is still about the characters and who they are as people both here on the island and before in their regular lives. The characters are well developed, and in almost all cases consistent.

I like this show, for one thing, because the characters all bring a little something different to the table. Lots of people on here, for instance, love Sawyer. I think he is a great character though not one of my favorites. I've seen many complain about Jack as a character. In my mind, he's one of the best TV characters ever. That's the beauty in this show. The diversity in the characters.

i think that juilet isn't as nice as made out to be. jack is probably just falling into a trap, like before. i don't think they will kill off sawyer & kate b/c they bring in so much audience.

i was VERY sad to see ecko go, i was hoping that locke would go.

I thought the same thing. When the rolled the rock off I said to my wife "I'd bet there's no body in there!"

While I didn't like the death of Ecko, I thought the way he did sucked. Black smoke throwing him around like a rag doll. It was lame.
