I do have a question though. We are 5 episodes away from the finale and haven't heard anything about Desmond's girlfriend searching after him (the last 3 minutes of last season's finale). I'm sure there is going to be more to that at some point, but can we infer any connections to the anomalies and everything else that took place then to what we have learned so far this season?

If you do not like spoilers, do not read below...

Why did Juliette have to be sedated, and strapped down to take a submarine trip to the island? I have never been on a sub, but I can't imagine that they are that bumpy.

The book shown really quickly during next week's previews was called Ardil-22. Ardil is a portugese word loosely translated as "scheme", so that title was the portugese title of Catch-22.

The men on the boat with Desmond's girlfriend were speaking portugese.

Paulo is from Brazil where they speak portugese.

She's one of the few love stories left on the island (claire, kate, and her). They won't kill her imo.

So, do you think most of the "others" have/had terminal diseases and that is why they can't leave the island?

bingo.

And did they say that the mothers and the babies die during the pregnancy, or simply the mothers? B/c Ben could have still been born on the island if only his mother died during the child birth. Going on the terminally ill theory though, I tend to think that maybe Ben was sick as a baby and his parents brought him to the island as the only way to save him.

I was asking my wife about the french woman and neither one of us could remember. Was Alex already born when they arrived or was she born on the island?

It would make sense if the Asian girl ends up dying if what was said before in the spoiler paragraph about last night's episode hinting a future death? However, I've falling in love with all the main characters on the island. I don't want anyone to die. The Others can.

Sawyer's murder the night before the flight

How would they know about this? The couldn’t. There is also no way they could know THAT much about Sayid’s past (certainly not how many people he’s tortured – do you really think Sadam kept records of this?).

I was truly disappointed in Sayid and Sawyer for caving when Juliet brought up their past sins. That was weak. Sawyer would have taken the case to Jack.

Juliet tells Jack she dragged Kate into the jungle to trick her. Why does Jack just accept this and not say anything?

And hey, you can keep medical supplies in the jungle for extended periods of time and they won’t deteriorate or anything.

Why doesn’t anyone question Juliet on why all of the sudden Claire’s life is in danger? She hasn’t gotten any shots for a month or more. Now suddenly, boom, she’s sick and dying?

The people on this island don’t ask enough question or never ask the right ones. Why do people go nuts when their plane is delayed in the airport? Is it really the wait, or is it NOT KNOWING WTF IS GOING ON??

A good episode b/c of the ending, but their were some weak points that were out of character, certainly for Sayid and Sawyer.

I think Juliet will turn on Ben and Sayid will not sit still. He does not trust her.

The flashback with Ben pointed out that they planted the medication there a day or two before Juliet arrived at the Lost camp.

As far as knowing about Sawyer, I suppose they could have learned of the murder from the television or from police scanners. Sawyer may have already been connected to the murder. He wouldn't know since he's been stuck on the island for so long.

And Sayid, I don't know, other than the fact that he did actually do some work for the US military and they may have a file on him and his past activities. Maybe the others have access to classified military information?

FYI - in the medical charts that supposedly show that Juliet's sister's cancer has come back, it blatantly shows on the top that it's a MALE 187 pound patient's chart. Oops.

I noticed that as well - you'd think Juliet would have caught that on the chart.

Could Jack be working with Juliet? We dont know what exactly happened when he was with the Others. Ben seems to get people to do what he wants. Maybe Jack isnt as tructing as we think, maybe he is looking out for #1. At the end Jack and Juliet lock eyes and they both smile. People have made comments before about how Jack was knocked out much longer than Kate when they were gassed. Maybe Jack was faking it like Juliet.

I know, it hurts to say and think these things, but I wouldnt put it past the writers...

I think Jack and Juliet have been on the same page since Juliet was branded.

This would explain Jack's behavior. (Playing football, keeping his head down)

Remember, Juliet tried to have Jack kill Ben in surgery. I am hoping Jack/Juliet have some grand plan to out-manuever Ben, but who knows.

Ben may be losing his edge post surgery. He has already admitted his recovery is going slower than he anticipated.

I give up my "Jack=brainwashed?" theory and replace it with "Jack=idiot!".

According to Lostpedia, Alex was indeed born on the island and snatched by the Others when she was one week old.

***Sorta SPOLIER (promo slo-mo)***

If you can trust the promo, next week includes what looks like a visit from a parachuter (possibly portuguese), something happens to Sun, more Kate and Sawyer, Locke returns, possibly Desmond-centric, and another near death (or real death) for Charlie.

Okay, I've been banned up until 10 minutes ago so this will cover stuff already posted, but:

Disclaimer: Yes I know it is a TV show.

1) Do enough planes/balloons/ships/etc crash on this island that the others have an SOP to gather all available information on survivors and then have every "other" memorize said information?

2) They did not know there was a pregnant woman on the flight when Ben sent Ethan, their only freakin' doctor and very valuable asset, to infiltrate the survivors. Why the **** would you send an irreplaceable asset on such a dangerous mission?

3) I don't care how much research you do on people, how the heck do you find out that Sawyer killed a man 2 days before he got on a plane when he never told anyone about it and there were no witnesses. There is no way they would know this about him. (I guess they could have found the guy who set him up and put 2-and-2 together, but that seems farfetched).

4) Sawyer and Sayid should not be such ******* when Juliette confronts them with their past. That would piss me off that they spied on me like that and I would have punched her in the face and then gone all Iraqi on her.

5) I'm not sure the submarine ever worked or was actually used to get them to the location. Of course, this could just be because there was not enough budget to actually show the sub surfacing and such.

6) Seems like there are questions about how Rousseau had a kid on the island and survived, unless she's lying about Alex being her kid. Ben said he was born there... I guess his mom could died during childbirth or afterwards. Or the pregnancy virus did not show up until recently.

7) Elizabeth Mitchell is an exhibitionist. If you haven't seen Gia, see it.

All of this is just my guess at your questions since they were good ones. Not trying to go NoAC on you.

My guess is that they send doctors in case there was a pregnant woman. Ben even said it to Juliet in one of the flashbacks ("there may even be a pregnant woman on that flight". It's much easier to have someone on the inside do the work than sending someone else just to find out if someone is pregnant and then needing the doctors.

Both of the these people have been captured before. Other than a list of names, do we know that Others know about people prior to them being captured? Perhaps they have a way to get information from their heads?

Maybe that also is why they act a little different after they have visited the Others. Whatever they do inside their heads takes their edge off. Remember the brainwashing?

This is a good point. I thought they might just want them drugged so they don't have a clue where they are. From Portland they'd most likely take a plane and then the sub. Maybe the tranquelizer (sp?) was just so they didn't know about the plane portion of the trip.

I don't really remember the backstory that well, but who is to say no one know that Sawyer killed him? Could the cops not have discovered that Sawyer killed him a few days later...when Sawyer was already on the island. It would then be public knowledge for the Others to know at the point when Juliet called him out on it.

Exactly. And we don't know there were no witnesses to the shooting. Somebody could have been hiding and went to the police, where they either described sawyer or picked him out of a line-up.

Then it's just a simple matter of seeing him on the 10:00 news.

Yes, exactly...

a witness saw a guy who had never been to Australia before kill a man at night.

Then he reported to the police and were able to determine exactly who did it from his description and make a case that proved he did it. Then the Others were able to say he definitely killed a man completely unrelated to him that based on their research of Sawyer that never tied an Australian food vendor to Sawyer.

I guess it is plausible somewhat since the police did have Sawyer in custody in Australia.

Why is Juliet cooperating with the Others?

She only cooperated previously, because she had a chance at getting off the island. Now she apparently doesnt. I'll be interesting see the rest of the story filled in there..

Also, I agree about Sayid and Sawyer. Why did they back down? They weren't acting as 'moral police' (like Juliet suggested).....rather protecting themselves and everyone else.

Besides, Juliet herself admitted to doing horrible things, so I'd tell her to eff off, and start talking.....

Likely Ben promised her something again.

He got her to believe that he doesn't lie.

He was going to let her go on the submarine, but it got blowed up through no fault of his own.

He said her sister was alive and showed it was.

So, he probably promised her something else she really, really wants and it will be the reward for her doing what he wants.

But it will once again be taken away through no fault of Ben's OR she will finally see the light and betray Ben, promises be-damned.

Yeah, that's what I mean by wanting to see the rest of the story filled in there.....What did he promise? What does he have on her?, etc.....

Cause as it stands, I don't get why she'd cooperate.

and then they just give their own personal theory about what they think could possibly happen (which usually ends up being way off).

Makes me chuckle.

I think the reason Juliet is cooperating with Ben is simply because he showed her that her sister is alive. He told us a couple of episodes ago that he manipulates people by identifying where they're emotionally invested and exploiting it. Showing her that he saved her sister's life (whether or not that's true) was huge to her, and it was enough to gain her loyalty.

Was it?

She saw her sister, and immediately said she wanted to go home (to be with her sister)....and he said 'No'.......continuing to hold her captive.

Ben is "Mr. Contingency"

I would not be shocked if he has another way off the island. This alternative may be what he is using to influence Juliet.

This happenned the day the plane crashed...we have since seen Juliet be disloyal to Ben.

Are we really arguing over the plausibility of the Others knowing Sawyer killed a guy? If you are still looking for plausibility in Lost, you are clearly watching the wrong show.
