Seeing as LOST went on the air before the tsunami and I am pretty sure that the writers had this entire story planned from day 1, there is a pretty slim chance that it will be in the story line.

I rewatched the first episode today. The pilot they found said 1600 miles into the flight they lost radio and turned back to Fiji. Once they crashed, they were 1000 miles off course.
I'm sure one of our resident geographers on there could give us a good idea where they are at. Draw a straight line between Sydney and LA and 1600 miles into that they turned to Fiji. Go about 1000 miles from that turning point. Who knows if there are even any islands there, but its worth a shot.

The writers recently said they had an overall arc planned from the beginning, but they had also made some things up as they went.
Finding 815 off the coast of Bali doesn't make much sense. Bali is several thousand miles northwest of the Sydney/Fiji track.
For that to be a legitimate coverup, the flight would have had to flown in the totally wrong direction for a long time.

I'm sure that Dharma/Widmore/whatever had a plausible cover story if that's actually what has happened (and Naomi isn't lying).

There was a May sweeps promo on the TV Guide channel that I caught earlier today. They said its being reported that up to 7 people will die on the LOST season finale. It probably won't be that much, but 4-5 would still be pretty crazy.

I'm not sure the above equation is true. I guess we just need to look at who's flashbacks are complete or near complete. What more can those characters bring to the show?
