Ecko was by far one of the reasons why I watched Lost, and his flashbacks last night reminded me of why I've grown so fond of him. I agree with previous posters that his story did come full circle, but the way he died was absolutely ludicrous. This smoke monster had better be something really good.

In addition, his death (while frustrating) made sense if they were looking for a "high stakes" kill. Ecko really is not joined together in anyone's flashbacks, and his connection to the island was his brother's plane - a question that was answered with the appearance of Ecko. I kept telling myself it was too obvious for him to be killed (with the episode being dedicated to him, the Regis appearance lined up, and even the arrest) and prayed that it was someone else (preferably Locke - but more realistically Sayid, in retribution from the Others for Colleen's death).

As for the Benry/Juliet escapade with Jack...the X-Ray is fake. We can debate the semantics between who's telling the truth, and who isn't until the 16th season of Lost...but the X-Ray is fake and is a part of a greater con job.

If the x-ray is fake, then explain the exchange that was just between Juliet and Benry on the beach during the funeral?

Benry: "Why did you tell him about my x-rays?"
Juliet: "I didn't tell him anything, but you must have."

Blast you...you found the hole.

Did he say "my X-rays" or "the X-rays?"

Maybe Benry is saying they're his to find out who is loyal to him and who is not?

you're overthinking it.

The question I have is why Jack doesn't just refuse to do the surgery. Those who want Ben dead get it. Jack doesn't have to kill him. He may live in containment a while longer but maybe the'll move the book club meetings to his cell so he's not too bored.

I thought the same thing when they were rolling the big rock away from the plane and found the 'tomb' empty.

Interesting from Entertainment Weekly a few episodes back:

HOW EXACTLY DID LOCKE, EKO, AND DESMOND SURVIVE THE IMPLODING HATCH?
(Maddeningly Unresolved Season 2 Cliffhanger of the Week!)

ANALYSIS I don't know.

But being the good Christian boy that I am, when life leaves me baffled, I turn to the Bible. And so should you, my fellow Lost theorists, for the producers of Lost like to encode their show with Bible passages. If you're not the type of obsessive fan prone to freezing frames, allow me to point out that Mr. Eko's Jesus Stick was sporting some new citations. For example:

Genesis 13:14 Part of this verse is actually etched on Eko's stick: ''Lift up your eyes and look [from the place where you are,] north...''
Application: If the castaways look to the northern part of the island, they will find the place where the Others are holding Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. But as for how the button-pushers survived the implosion, I think another footnote on Eko's Staff of Clues might provide insight:

John 3:5 ''Jesus answered, ''Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.'' In the full context of this passage, Christ is explaining that one must be spiritually transformed or ''born again'' in order to enter Heaven.
Application: For now, let's just assume that Locke and Eko somehow managed to scramble away from the Hatch and were thrown into the jungle by the concussive energy of the implosion, à la the flying door marked ''quarantine.'' So what happened to Desmond?

Simple.

He was born again.

The stated purpose of the Hatch, according to the (possibly bogus) Station Three Orientation Film, was to study the ''unique'' electromagnetic energy that fluctuated from the southern section of the island. But we also know that Dharma was conducting experiments in parapsychology, or ''mind over matter.'' Now, quantum physics says that all matter is made up of electromagnetic energy. And remember, Desmond seemed to believe in a form of reincarnation, as per his catchphrase, ''See you in another life, brother.'' I'm thinking that Desmond essentially willed himself into living again. Mind over matter.

In other words, Desmond literally saved himself. Which could explain Boone's cryptic reference to Desmond in Locke's dream when he said, ''He's helping himself.''

And, of course, it also explains Desmond showing up in his birthday suit.

They are going on a break after this coming episode to film the rest of the season, so when does it come back on?

When Locke was compared to Gilgamesh in Season 2 and Ecko was assumed to be Ekindo, you should have known Eko would have to die. That is what happens in the Gilgamesh story.

What if Desmonds encounter with Jack at the stadium happens as a result of time travel for Desmond?

What in the world are you talking about? Why would Desmond be training for a race he had already been in?

Interesting tidbits from the ABC podcast:

-They have not forgotten about Cindy and the other people taken. We should see where they are and what the are doing around episode 8.
- Hinted that the smoke monster downloaded Eko's memory in his first encounter.
- Hinted that Yemi was in fact a manifestation of the Smoke Monster. They said to remember that Yemi's body was missing much like Christian Shepard's body....and he was a manifestation too...hmmmm.
- They believe that Episode 6 is the best yet.
- After episode 6 the action will return to the main island and they will be "done with Alcatraz."
- The monster is NOT, I repeat NOT nanobots.

Think about it. Desmond's advice to Jack was rather prophetic. I shouldn't really try explaining it to you, though. Your ego is hard to talk over.

Which does not address my point.

You think Desmond brushed off Penny and started to train for the race AFTER he took part in it. Please explain how that makes sense.
Cabbage

Perhaps he wasn't training. He was only there to run into Jack (traveling back in time...quantum leap style). It would make sense when you consider that when Jack first saw Desmond in the hatch, Jack recognized Desmond first.

It was unclear to me that Desmond remembered Jack or was just reacting to Jack's facial expression.

He said he knew him from the stadium AND asked him about the woman he had operated on.

And it still makes no sense that Desmond would brush off Penelope after being on the island.

Desmonds comments when he first meet Jack would be more likely that he was already somewhat precognitate(sp?) and that the hatch blowing up made it easier (or increased his power) for him to see things.

i think its laughable you know so much about a show that so far as been left to interpretation by the audience, not the actual writers/producers. i do laugh at some of your @ss comments though...
