Did Desmond even go to London? Maybe when the hatch blew up and he was knocked out, he was having a subconscious dream? Since he already knew charlie before the hatch blew up, he had someone to place in his dream?

That's what a friend thinks

What does your friend think about Desmond's current precognition?

Haven't the producers been adamant that they are not in a different time or they didn't time travel?

Of course, if only Desmond time travelled, they could still make bill clinton-like arguments about what they meant.

If Desmond time-travelled backwards how does he know what will happen in the future... unless they didn't show us his living out his entire life in his "dream".

I'm not smart enough to understand time travel so whenever it is thrown into movies, books, or TV shows, it really baffles me.

I think Desmond is like Billy Pilgrim in Slaughterhouse-Five. He's unstuck in time.

I thought the producers had said something about how everything is something that could actually happen in real life, and time travel is obviously not possible.

desmond said what happened. when the key turned his life flashed before him, but now he is still seeing flashes of things that do/could happen.

Perhaps he didn't travel back in time at all, but the large electromagnetic implosion unlocked some strange clairvoyant power in him. Remember, we've already witnessed a man on this show who is psychic and a boy who can make things happen with his mind.

Remind me who and how we knows this? I'm trying to keep all these clues in my head that I'm forgetting simple things. I also came in late to watching this show, and haven't seen the beginning of SIII.

This whole Dez time travel/subconscious/cognitive scenario has gotten me completely confused.

I can understand how everything up until he wakes in the jungle could have just been a dream/"life flashing before your eyes."

But, how did he know about Locke's speech, the lightning and Claire's ocean adventure?

I'm not really into the whole time travel explanation because I was hoping most everything could be explained through proven (not theoretical) science.

Anybody got any clearer ideas on what happened to Dez?

This episode reminded me why I love Lost. I enjoy the character development immensely. I can wait for ultimate answers for 3 more years. The characters are what drive each episode though, not the plot.

I still feel like the name of the show MEANS something and will play a role in the ultimate answer. IT is pretty clear from the backstories that none of the characters were "happy" in life.

They are putting in a swimming pool. It's even going to have a rock waterfall at one end. Should be nice.

i'm pretty sure a black cloud of smoke that can pick up a large african man and slam him into trees and stuff is not going to fall into this catagory

Most physicists would disagree with you. Time even passes at a different rate (allbeit a SMALL difference) depending on what elevation you're at.

Woah, I did not catch this :

The woman running the jewelry store is named Mrs. HAWKING.

I'm convinced that Desmond actually DID relive that portion of his life and that she was doing the same thing.

Is this the same lady? The first picture is the lady who was asking Jack about his tattoos in the previews for next week's episode.

No. Different actresses.

The above character is Diana Scarwid.

Ms. Hawking is Fionnula Flanagan.

I didn't like the episode that much.

The main thing that bothered me is Desmond was so convinced to ask his girlfriend to marry him, and then he starts looking at the photo of the two of them and all of the sudden decides to break it off completely?

WTF?

I think his reaction was supposed to be due to the fact that he realized he couldn't change the future becase even though he had bought the ring this time, he still ended up with the picture.

What I found kind of strange is the fact that he ended up being right about the soccer game and the bartender getting whacked is what convinced him that he should go after Penelope.

because of the distance to the center of gravity of the earth. Time also passes slower the FASTER you are going. This has been proven in NASA studies.

And time travel is of course POSSIBLE. you are TRAVELING in TIME right now. Going forward.

Gravity is a fictitious force. What you feel is centripetal force caused by the curvature of time and space. But let's not get into a physics discussion.

One of the paintings in Widmore's office was also present in Thomas's (Claire's boyfriend) studio.
