Also, Ventress was never an apprentice.

Why are more of you not talking about the Infinity 3.0 confirming Rey as Luke's daughter?
quote:You're definitely in the minority around the world with those opinions. But to each his own. I would easily put TFA above all except Empire Strikes Back and maybe Star Wars, but after watching the whole series again the two weeks, I'm more prone to move Return of the Jedi ahead of Star Wars. I don't see how in the world you would rate the light saber fights as "meh", especially compared to the original. The only time I noticed CGI being used was with the tentacled animals that got loose on Han's ship. JJ personally saw to it that they used as little CGI as possible, and that was certainly evident...and it worked very well. As for lazy coincidences, if you want to get technical, every one of the films are filled with them.
I just can't be so kind. None of the characters match up to the main characters of the first two. The light saber fights are meh. The story is a total retread, filled with lazy coincedences and bad cgi.

The book Plagueis has Plagueis alive until the day before Sidious takes over as emperor, which means that all three are full Sith lords at the same time in our universe and theirs
quote:I'm sorry, but some of your complaints are very typical of someone of your age and not at all reasonable. I'm not saying the movie was without flaws... far from it.

quote:Well, if we're only looking at the movies, the rule of two is supported by one PT comment from a Jedi who had been totally duped by the Sith, and countered by the OT where the Sith did not feel a need to stay at two. So I'm still not seeing much reason to put stock in the rule of two.quote:

Well thank God the decision was made to scrap all that nonsense. In my opinion the issues are less with the movies and all with these idiot authors whom Lucas gave full rein to write whatever they wanted. A book made after all the prequels that has Plagueis alive during that same time completely disregards the movies. And honestly, the movies are what should matter the most.

I must have missed the memo that everyone got that Phasma was supposed to be the new Boba Fett character... I just saw her armor in the preview and thought that she was going to be some field commander. Even then I guess I was wrong.

He's saying "curses."

Luke Skywalker has vanished.
In his absence, the sinister
FIRST ORDER has risen
from the ashes of the Empire
and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi,
has been destroyed.
With the support of the REPUBLIC,
General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE.
She is desperate to find her
brother Luke and gain his
help in restoring peace and
justice to the galaxy.
Leia has sent her most daring
pilot on a secret mission
to Jakku, where an old ally
has discovered a clue to
Luke's whereabouts . . . .
quote:I'm sure someone else has already mentioned it, but how about the idea that Kylo, when he killed the new Jedi at the academy, saved his own little sister and stuck her on some faraway planet. Han and Leia believe she's dead. They don't speak about her in the movie just because they think she's been dead for many years, whereas their son is still in front of them and theoretically redeemable.
Several holes to poke in that, one of which is her being left on the desert planet at about 5 years old. Can't learn much by that age and there wouldn't be any "coming back" about mind control at that age.
Also, Han and Leia specifically only mention losing their son in dialogue, not multiple children...

Why would he say "face me curses"....in the other video linked here....twice. Its clearly "face me cousin"

It's amazing to me that any adult was pleased with this movie. It was a weak retread of the original trilogy completely devoid of original thought, often looking like a shot for shot remake of a new hope. It's like they took the characters, themes, and events of the originals, mixed them up, and reassigned them to different people and places.
The characters were likable and the humor was generally well proportioned, but it was entirely predictable, boring, ordinary. there was zero intrigue, zero danger, it played exactly as expected. Also, too often it was laughably referential to a new hope. The whole movie felt like a big wink at the camera, a parody, fan fiction.

quote:Finn was also running away at every turn until he ran back to make sure Rey was safe at Maz's taking the lightsaber from her to fight and then also turned to face Kylo on the surface of Starkiller Base. Him facing Kylo was a HUGE change in his character in contrast to his actions in the rest of the film. He gets his ass kicked by Kylo because Kylo is clearly superior in fighting with a lightsaber and also is a force user.
I suppose Finn may have suffered a bit of usefulness at the expense of making Rey a strong character. Whether or not you care is up to you. I personally don't, but now that I think of it... I guess Finn was being outclassed at nearly every turn. "Let me save you from this octopus" "I can escape from this Death Star on my own" "lay there and give me that lightsaber"
