I always find it curious the stuff people get hung up on in a movie universe where some magical force helps people do things to begin with.
quote:But he did manage to destroy an entire school of young Jedi, so he does have the power. Plus being able to freeze people and even blaster shots is a whole new level
I got the impression that Ren was nothing more than a whiney little ***** that was still a noob that didn't know what he was doing and still making a lot of mistakes. He wore a helmet to cover up that he was not that intimidating.

It's just that there's no consistency in the classification of this magical force. Read what the previous poster said. Took Luke, supposedly the best, a great deal of time to learn how to use the force well. Took Ren 30 minutes.

Who was the old man that Kylo killed at the beginning? He seems familiar but I can't place him.

But seriously, no one knows who the old man at the start was? I figured he was an important character that I just didn't recognize but maybe not.
quote:Ren had been shot and was bleeding rather badly AND Finn had tagged him once or twice.
She did know how to use that staff....and Kylo was injured. Probably a little exaggerated but still believable.
quote:I'm on these lines as well. She was able to reverse Ren's mind reading and use it against him.
My view on Rey is that she's basically Force Jesus. I think she's so strong in the force that she can imprint skills to herself by mentally contacting other force users. That was my reading on the fight with Ren. She was doing OK and then tapped the force and seemingly knew all about fighting with a lightsaber.
quote:LOL... I thought that about halfway through the movie, "have they been doing screen wipes? I don't think they are."
And next movie.......can we please get some damn screen wipes between scenes? It's just not a Star Wars movie without transitioning scenes with a screen wipe.

quote:Keep in mind...it is the Empire/First Order that lacks originality. It makes sense that they would just keep trying at it until they get it right.
biggest compliant would of course be the retread plot. A 3rd Death Star? Really? But I like how they poked fun at it with Han saying "So it's just like the Death Star?" For about 5 minutes I sulked at the lack of originality
