I'm a huge Star Wars fan living in the supposedly racist/sexist state of Texas, and I have yet to see anyone outraged about the inclusion of a black stormtrooper or a strong female character. In fact, what I've seen are nearly unanimous compliments for the excellent castings. The only comments regarding the race and gender of the main characters has been to specifically note that Abrams did not seem like he was pandering or filling a quota.
