Bilbo needs to find a new wall to listen through at HQ to get the scoop right.

He should have known, with Watson's documented affinity for going to "Brown Town".

I think the Texans set a floor for teams to clear to enter the trade. Anything over that they were happy with, but good with the floor. Deshaun's camp doesn't care about the roster or trade package, they wanted the biggest contract. Deshaun is about the money.

The trade feels a little light, but 3 1sts is still a good haul and now the team can move on completely. Good, not great.

As BoB would say the "almost" great trade.

Not even taking into account the legal crap this may be best that could've happened to the Texans.

Deshaun is a cancer and we should all be glad he's being shipped out.

IMO this had more to do with Caserio saying **** it and deciding to move on. He saw his opportunity to get Watson out of town FINALLY and took it. Doesn't look like he fought for everything Watson is worth, but thems the NTC brakes.

My guess is Cleveland was pretty much out of it and he was headed to either Atlanta or NOLA. Then Cleveland offered the fully guaranteed contract hail mary. When Atlanta and NOLA refused to match it, he then reversed course and agreed to go to Cleveland.

We will never know what the other teams offered on the contract, but at the end of the day, he did go to the best team.

But it should be pointed out again that Bill O'Brien is the worst general manager in the history of the NFL. . It's really not even debatable. (See Devante Adams trade to Raiders compared to DeHop as another example)

Anybody have any idea on the salary cap for Cleveland now? Have to think this has hamstrung ability to sign big FAs and now don't have 1st round picks for cheap up and comers.

Seems like this may impact their ability unless they get old guys chasing rings like the cronies that play with Lebron.

Agreed. Bet Nick will have a few stiff drinks to celebrate tonight.

Someone on this Browns thread is saying EVERY CENT of the new contract is guaranteed. Surely not. Anyone else seeing that reported anywhere?

It's true confirmed by Rapoport
That is insanity. Wow.

No leverage.

I'm assuming since Cleveland was the only team to guarantee the entire contract the leverage was gone.

Not a bad haul, but mildly disappointing. Three first rounders seemed like a given…thought we would also get at least one second rounder and a good young player.

Three first rounders is a lot, though.

And we get rid of that pervert. Bye, Felicia.

Russell Wilson trade:

2022 1st (#9), 2023 1st, 2022 2nd, 2023 2nd, 2022 5th, Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, and Drew Lock.

The fact that zero players came with this is kind of wild. I think the Texans definitely got trade raped, but thats not surprising.

I don't think they got what he's worth (that was always expected to be the case) but they didn't get trade raped.

Far from it actually

3 1st round picks has happened only once. Texans got it for a guy encumbered with 22 civil sexual assault suits and sat out while publicly demanding a trade. Not a "trade rape" at all.

You never get fair value when you sell something encumbered with debt/liabilities, but they still got good assets.

$230 million of guaranteed money to a guy who

1) Quit on his team
2) Hasn't played in a year
3) Still has a potentially very embarassing civil lawsuit going on.

Only the Browns and the 1980s/1990s Clippers would think that's a good idea.

Remember when the Clippers wanted to trade for Hakeem, but were unwilling to part with either Danny Manning or Ron Harper???

And Seattle had a more valuable product to trade.

Wilson has a ring and is a proven leader and upstanding guy.

Deshaun hasn't won shlt, quit on his team and threw a tantrum, and has 22 civil suits.

Not apples and oranges

At least it's finally done and we don't have to wonder anymore.

Seems like the Texans should have at least got a second rounder for this year as well.

Even with all Of that deshab is way younger and if he keeps out of trouble can be good for the next 10 years. No reason imo that Seattle should have gotten more for russ
