The only person who should want Watson on their team (Miami or Eagles) is the GM or Head Coach who selfishly want to make a few playoffs and maybe win a first round game. Neither of those teams have a defense that can contain a prolific offense. As far as offense goes, the eagles have almost zero weapons. Dolphins have Waddle at WR but nothing else pops out. Now factor in the loss of top picks and those teams aren't going to upgrade the other areas as would be necessary.

I almost wander if Tampa Bay showed it is best to set up your roster to win without the QB then wait to get that QB. The Rams did something similar with the Stafford trade. If you get the QB you need first you can't get the other pieces.

I don't know. Unless everyone knows he isn't playing until his legal issues are resolved.

I could see the nfl finally acting and placing him on exempt list if he is traded

I see your logic. I think teams are only allowed to trade picks for the next three years, so the return may be the same one way or another.
IIRC, they can only trade the next 2 years' picks until the start of the next league year in March and that unlocks the 3rd year.

Once the draft is over, you are back to only 2 years that can be traded.

In other words, the only time you can trade 3 years' worth of picks is the period between the start of the league year and the draft.

So this would mean we could get more picks for Deshaun in March than now, right?

Theoretically yes, but since some teams have more than (1) 1st rounder in the upcoming draft, the Texans could technically get the number of picks they want by trading with them.

The following teams currently have multiple 1st rounders in the 2022 draft...

Lions
Giants
Jets
Eagles

Of these, I only think the Eagles would make a move during the season and I'm not buying the rumors (yet) that they are considering it.

After the season, I could see the Giants thinking about it...especially if they fire Judge and the GM.

ETA - I am pretty sure the Dolphins have (2) 1sts in 2023 as part of the trade they made to move back with SF so the 49ers could take Lance. The one downside is that their only 2022 pick is technically SF's so it won't be very high....BUT if Miami were willing to trade (3) 1sts for Watson, it would be 1 in 2022 and 2 in 2023.

The other thing to consider is that the reports have said Deshaun doesn't want to go to Philly and could block with no trade clause.

I think Caserio should just let this simmer this season. His 2021 salary is a sunk cost at this point and, hopefully, you'll have the legal process behind you with clarity on what picks you're getting in return for 2022 draft.

Glazer's report seems like Deshaun's camp is getting desperate. None of these "reports" are worth anything as they are being fed out of both camps to drive their own respective narrative.

It is insane that he is going to make millions for doing absolutely nothing.

Agreed, while I do think it may be a good fit for him, unless Deshaun softens on Philly, he's not going there.

I personally think there is less than a 5% chance he's traded during the season, but I don't think Glazer is just blowing smoke.

I thought it was a good decision, what do you have to lose at this point. But it's looking like 3 points would be big in this weather now.

That was my thinking: the weather sucks and is clearly going to play a huge role in the game for both teams; take the gimme 3 points.

The entire Texans defense just got beat to the corner by the QB & gave up 16 yards on 4th & 2

Reminds me of arguably the greatest tweet I've ever seen.

When ESPN benched the Asian broadcaster because his name is Robert Lee, someone tweeted, "I wish there was a Confederate general named Beth Mowins." Amazing.

Was watching the Cowboys and switched over and heard her voice.

Guess I'm only watching the Cowboys today and keeping up with the Texans on the ESPN app.

My God, that woman is horrible.

The Mills stat line at the half: 1 for 7, 3 yards, 2 Ints, 3 sacks. Is that bad?

There is no way our new GM thought this guy could be a future franchise quarterback. As such, how do you spend your first pick of this year's draft on someone you hope will only be a back up? Especially when this team has so many needs at every single position. We could've used a nice seven-year starter at linebacker, offensive line, well anything.

It was actually a genius pick.

They're tanking so either he hits the lotto and got a franchise QB in the 3rd or he plays and sucks and the tank plan works.

But Taylor was going to be the QB, not Mills. Unless you are saying Nick is playing 4D chess and only signed Taylor b/c he was so sure he'd be hurt by week two that we'd have to play the rookie backup. If that were the case, we still could have done that with a 7th round pick.

You engage a fan base by being entertaining or good (preferably both). If you can't be either, you must be able to point to the future and the belief that you're building something. The first pick the new GM made leads me to think his logic is fundamentally flawed, and doesn't even give me hope. There's truly nothing for a wannabe Texan fan to grasp onto right now. I'd like to care about this team and franchise, but they've given us nothing.

I think overall Caserio has done a nice job turning over this roster and getting things on the right track to fixing what BoB fckd up.

How he eventually handles the Deshaun trade will determine his legacy as Texans GM.
