I think the no trade clause will become a non-factor. I don't see Deshaun using it as leverage, but it wouldn't surprise me if Muhlugeta is trying to broker a deal.

I think Nick will get max value and we'll be impressed with the haul. Then he's not our problem anymore.
I agree completely. I think Carolina has been the most aggressive (at least publicly) on wanting this done, so the might give up the most draft/you player capital.

Further down in the replies some guy suggests that the deal will be one of their starting DEs (Burns) and Safety (Chinn) plus picks.

Wow, if we get Burns, Chinn and a couple of 1st's (or more) then I'm all freaking in. But I can't imagine Carolina trading both Burns and Chinn, maybe 1 of them...but again, one can hope (and I can't believe I'm putting hope back into this team).

I was reading somewhere that Tepper also told Deshaun he'd get to pick the next Carolina coach.

The more this plays out, the more it seems like Deshaun needs to be coddled. Doesn't get to "pick" the HC/GM? Wants out of Houston. "Will only play for Miami", "Gets to pick the next Carolina coach". Then the allegations on top of that? It's just time to ship him out and not look back.

While the Texans front office doesn't have a strong history pre-Caserio, I think Deshaun may be a bigger issue than Easterby is. Can't wait until this era is in the rearview and the team can truly rebuild with a (seemingly) sharp GM. They may suck for a bit, but at least it'll be without the constant black cloud that Deshaun and Muhlugeta have put over the franchise in trying to get what he wants.

Agree completely with you, we need to get Watson moved asap and start the true rebuilding process. The great news is that the team is actually positioned to be able to do that. The roster has been turned over completely, and only a few boat anchor contracts will be left (like Tunsil and Fairbairn). We have a potentially good (and cheap) QB to lead us into the next phase with young talent and a **** ton of cap flexibility. Crazy to think about considering where the franchise was almost 2 years ago.

That means Carolina and Nola have been rejected and he's considering all other teams.

Texans refuse the Colts' request to talk to Watson...makes sense.

They have also rebuffed other AFC teams. Sounds like they really want him in the NFC.

Well if McClain is tweeting it, you know it's the false narrative one of the parties gave him. That means, it's probably about 10% true.

The Houston Texans have saved $5.2 million by cutting tackle Marcus Cannon.

Watson is a cancer and not really that good a qb. He thinks he's Rodgers or Brady and deserves the opportunity to chose his coach, he ain't.

He's padded stats on bad teams during garbage time.

Good riddance to the creep. Afc talent at qb has passed him by and he knows it.

So if it's Carolina or New Orleans it feels like they're going to have to include current players and picks. In that case who are must haves?

Carolina
Burns?
McCaffery?
Chinn?

New Orleans
Kamara?
Lattimore?
Davenport?

I sure as hell hope we don't go after a big contract RB. We should be going after young players with high upside on rookie contracts, no players with a long term contract that is going to cause hell on the salary cap for the next 3 to 4 years
MaxPower

If you are picking one from each team then Lattimore and Burns are the choices. Lattimore is almost a must from New Orleans because they need to shed salaries to get under the cap for Deshaun anyway. The Saints issue is their pick is much worse than Carolina and they don't have as much young talent to trade. They'd probably have to offer one more first than Carolina does.

Offering one more first is saying a lot considering it's rumored that Carolina offered their next 3 1st rounders and Burns, and Chinn. If that's true i don't see a package the Saints could counter offer with.

Now the Falcon's are in the hunt for Deshaun.

Love that this is becoming a bidding war.

I'm surprised they haven't been involved since the beginning, but do they have any players they would actually be willing to let go in addition to draft picks? I doubt they trade Pitts, so I'm guessing this would be just a ton of picks over the next 3 years
Texan_Aggie

Pitts also has Muhlugeta as an agent so I'd bet he's off the table. Matt Ryan's dead cap hit is like $55M, so this makes me think this is just a story to drive up the price on Carolina/NO and sabotage their future draft stock.

Oh I bet Atlanta is trying, think about it, two teams in your division are attempting to add Watson, who in "theory" should be a top 5 QB for them. That should scare the crap out of the Falcon's management on a power shift in the division.
