Dumb. And we had them stopped. Lucky he didn't get targeting too.

Holy **** we punted on 4th and 4 from the 39 with a kicker who's made a 62 yarder before?

Our kicker also missed the extra point following the TD, but it was another botched call by the HC. The team is unexpectedly competitive though, so I'm having trouble taking him too much to task. Plus we're supposed to be tanking. Winning 4-6 is counterproductive.

Now we will start going for it on 4th.

very conservative again.

1st down run...2nd down run...3rd down sack

You must be right or else they'd have called it.

Just tuned in, seriously? That's almost as bad as taking 4th and 2 over 3rd and 10.

I admit I'm a casual fan, but what happened to the team I saw week 1? Are the jags just that bad?

Did you not see who the starting QB was week 1 and who it is today?

Doh- I guess that actually is my problem.

This 3rd down distance keeps getting shorter every time somebody brings it up. It was 15

Mills hit in the head -- no flag.

Hit in the head and defender drove him into the ground/landed on him

The Texans just don't have the athletes in the secondary, but still don't know that excuses so many 3rd and long conversions. They're all behind the sticks with no real chance at closing fast enough to make the stop. Just bad defense.

This Texans team is just flat out bad. Fantasy wins is my focus for NFL now at this point. Sundays are going to be so much more free outside of 1115-1145 and 215-245

So far we're doing a pretty good job being entertaining enough but not winning. Now only if we had some draft picks to make losing matter…

Careful with the BilBo talk - he'll come out of the woodwork and scold you on how wrong you are.

Really late to the convo, but a lot of 1st round QBs really suck and most are average. Low chance you get your franchise QB. Since 2011...

  • Dwayne Haskins
  • Josh Rosen
  • Mitch Trubisky
  • Carson Wentz
  • Paxton Lynch
  • Marcus Mariota
  • Blake Bortles
  • Johnny Manziel
  • Teddy Bridgewater
  • EJ Manuel
  • Robert Griffin
  • Jake Locker
  • Blaine Gabbert
  • Christian Ponder

I know Texags has a hard-on against him because he went to Baylor, but RG3 does not belong on this list at all. His issue was not talent but coming back too quickly from an injury (recall that being Shanahan's doing, but could be wrong). His rookie season was stellar.
Going to disagree with this. RG3 never played a full 16, played >10 games 2 seasons, and his best season was 9-6.

Matt Schaub was fun to watch put up stats, but get me a QB that is dependable and wins as opposed to putting up great stats that ultimately doesn't translate to wins.

Teddy B had 1 good season, I agree. But the point remains - the chance you draft a QB in Round 1 that is a franchise quarterback and translates to wins, whether that be deficiencies in talent, durability, or whatever else is very low.

You said "a lot of 1st round QBs really suck and most are average". Before his injury, he was well above average. Nothing about games played, not to mention 9-6 after the season they had before was stellar. You put him in with a bunch of QBs who never even sniffed that kind of success and have amounted to average as best.

Bridgewater is not a good QB.

Denver is his 4th team for a reason...he can't throw downfield

Regardless of the criticisms we have on offense or defense, of which there are many, that Carolina defense is nasty. Their defense alone will carry them pretty far. Losing CM sucks for them, their ceiling is whatever Darnold can do. He had way too much time in the pocket last night.

As a consequence of his injury, he sucked after. Given that the majority of his career he sucked and/or was a backup, I'd lump his career in with "suck". Better?

This is what I don't get. I think they should at least be aggressive in those 4th down situations. If you fail to convert a 4th down in that area of the field, so what? You're most likely going to lose the game anyway. Just because you are tanking this season doesn't mean you can't make the games interesting.
