That said, doesn't this figure to be Taylor's last opportunity as a starting QB, given how fragile he has proven to be?

It is, and he likely doesn't come back to Houston. I think his contract is a 1-year deal and I could see them going cheaper for a veteran backup.

Unless Thibodeaux or Hutchinson fall to us at #3, I think we should trade back for someone else to take Hamilton or Neal. We've got Howard and Tunsil at tackle and Reid at safety, so hopefully we pick up some draft capital if we end up at 3. Secretly, my heart wants Linderbaum from Iowa.

Reid is a FA after this season and with the crap he's gone through being benched he's as good as gone.

And while they may want to trade down it's more difficult than that because someone has to want to trade up. Takes two

Agreed.

I don't see the Jags drafting defense. They need a Neal type to protect Lawrence. I'd bet one of Thibodeaux or Hutchison is available at 3.

Lions still have games against ATL and SEA, so it is possible that the Texans end up at #2.

My prediction:

#1 Jags - Neal
#2 Texans - Hutchinson
#3 Lions - Thibodeaux

I actually think he could be a good QB, not an elite one, but one of those guys that you can build a great team around. One of those situations where the team has all the pieces ready for you to find a chance to draft or acquire an elite QB to get a championship.

That is, of course, assuming the front office can actually build a team....

Good but not great. Good enough to win games but not great enough to be franchise game changing QB.

With this group of stiffs, Schaub would have gone 0-50.

Kid is a rookie, I think the Texans are godawful, but he has some nice skills.

I don't get to see the games here in the midwest but it's nice to hear Mills might have something. This is a shocking win to me because there's a lot to like on the Chargers. Sounds like only Mac Jones is really outplaying him amongst the rookies. I've gotten to see Fields play a few games, and while he shows flashes, the bears are a bit of a mess and I don't think Nagy is the guy to lead them.

I still think this is a draft to go defense with us drafting as high as we will. There are some options at WR to consider pursuing in free agency.

RB is also going to be something to look into either by draft or free agency. I think we draft one and have a couple veterans on the roster to go with them.

We have so many holes to fill. I could see them going d-line then load up on o-lineman. Maybe draft a RB in round 3.

If Stingley is healthy, I don't see how you can pass on him. He was one of the best players in college football as a true freshman. That is incredibly hard to do, especially for a CB.

A lot of this will depend on their ability to acquire more picks. They really need basically everything. If they can move Watson and/or Tunsil, that will help a lot. Winning and getting a lower pick makes it easier to work a trade too.

They should just apply the Jimbo approach and start stacking as much talent into the lines as they can. Then get speed on the outside.
