If Lovie can build a great defense I will be very happy. I thought they clearly improved on that side of the ball as the season went on despite a real lack of talent.
you're missing the entire point....Why does the whole "need more minority coaches" only matter if you're 100% black? Do asians, mexicans, spaniards, etc not matter?EastTX_Ag said:
Trying to put things in place so more qualified African American coaches get a shot a job they deserve is not making it worse. There are only 2 black head coaches in the NFL u cannot deny that sorry. It's a problem

the trick will be avoiding the regression-to-the-mean with regard to forcing turnovers.rbcs_2 said:

Can we also make a rule that every team must carry a white running back and an Asian wide receiver? How about a South American middle linebacker? When is the league going to wake up about how passionate Bolivians are for the 4-2-5 defense?pagerman @ work said:Why?EastTX_Ag said:

So now that the coaching change has been made when is the Watson legal situation supposed to get moving again? Was it this month or later?
IIRC they sounded like they were close but the plaintiffs wouldn't sign NDA's, which was a deal breaker for Watson. I'm assuming that's still the case.JCA1 said:Max Power said:

I don't think one has anything to do with the other. I believe a number of depositions have been taken but I haven't been following it closely. Also, sounds like settlement discussions have been ongoing.
No idea if there is a hearing on the Court's docket but an actual civil trial is still likely years away. While I think its technically set for trial later this year, I would be shocked if it actually went to trial then. And I'm not sure how they plan on trying these; i.e., individually or as a group. And I'll edit to add that this is a no-win situation for him. Try them individually and he's looking at 20 different trials. All expensive, all covered by the media, all with different juries. That's 20 different times he can lose. But at least they are one-on-one he said/she said. Try them together and you have 20 women telling very similar stories. They can argue that this is just a coordinated money grab, but 20 people testifying to the same thing against one person denying it is pretty powerful.AustinCountyAg said:
I feel like I heard on the radio a while back that Watson could go to court, or hearing, something like that next week? Don't hold me to that though.
Watson's team was very familiar with who Buzbee is. I can assure you of that.JCA1 said:
As I recall, Watson's team wasn't even familiar with who Buzbee was when it first came in and thought he was some two-bit ambulance chaser. Critical error to not even investigate your opposition.
This was what I was thinking of. Buzbee clearly didn't think they were familiar with him. If they did know who he was, they played it very poorly.BMX Bandit said:Watson's team was very familiar with who Buzbee is. I can assure you of that.JCA1 said:

Watson set for deposition 2/22.
The #Texans are unlikely to hire a defensive coordinator, source said. Head coach Lovie Smith had said he’ll call plays, and it’s his defense. They still have key spots available on the staff, and there is a possibility they need to use the title. But this is the plan now.

one small issue with hiring Lovie...
what if he's actually able to get the Texans to 6 or 7 wins.
that would mean picking around #8 or #9 in the 2023 draft...which is supposed to be much better for QB's
Agreed, he'll get there though, I'm confident. I'm surprised Ware didn't get in as well, but he'll get there too.Ag_07 said:
So dumb
If you're worthy of the HOF you're worthy of the HOF.
You're credentials aren't changing. First ballot, second ballot, whatever ballot.

There is a popularity aspect to most hall of fame selections. David Ortiz took steroids and got caught but made the Baseball HOF on first ballot. He's Big Poppy.
