"I'm not saying you're the stupidest person to ever live, but you better hope the stupidest person don't die!"
On Friday, two members of the 2026 Texas A&M softball team were chosen for All-SEC accolades.
The all-conference selections are headlined by first-teamers Mya Perez and Kennedy Powell.
Head coach Trisha Ford led the Maroon & White to a 36-16 regular-season record, finishing 16-8 in conference play.
The longest win streak for the Aggies came over a nine-game stretch in April, with the final game of that heater being a 10-9 comeback win over Mississippi State that featured a Mya Perez grand slam in a nine-run second inning.
Ford & Co. made successful strides in SEC play, winning five conference series, sweeping three opponents, and winning two games against two different top-ranked teams in the country.
In Ford’s fourth season in Aggieland, she brought her A&M coaching record to 163-63 and 560-289 all-time.
Despite not returning record-breaking production from 2025, Ford’s Aggies are pushing to be a regional host for the third consecutive year and the 17th time in program history.
In the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, Texas A&M ranked as high as No. 8, finishing the regular season at No. 13.
Throughout the duration of the 2026 season, A&M’s key pieces and familiar faces continued to develop into some of the best players in the SEC.
Mya Perez - Designated Player/Infielder - Junior from Corona, California
2026 Stats: 52 games .434/.611/.907 36 R, 56 H, 17 HR, 50 RBI
The power-hitter garnered her second All-SEC accolade, following First Team All-SEC and Second-Team All-American selections in 2025. Perez has been an offensive ace for Ford’s Aggies, leading the team in batting average (.434), ranking fifth in the SEC. She also leads the Aggies in on-base percentage (.611), slugging percentage (.907), walks (50), total bases (117) and is the only Division 1 player to reach base in every game this season. Perez also recorded a career-high 17 home runs in the regular season, adding a two-run bomb against Auburn in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday. Perez is looking to beat her single-season batting average from 2025 (.424), which ranks third in program history behind Kendall Richards (.454) and Jennifer McFalls (.427).
Kennedy Powell - Third Baseman - Senior from Conroe, Texas
2026 Stats: 52 games .418/.468/.544 57 R, 76 H, 2 HR, 26 RBI
Consistency is key when it comes to A&M’s leadoff batter, who earned her second All-SEC award after previously earning All-SEC Tournament Team recognition in 2024. Powell is in her third season with the Aggies after transferring from UCLA. She has been a persistent piece of Ford’s offense, starting 169 of 170 games for the Aggies. Powell recorded a career-high .418 batting average in 2026, ranking eighth in the SEC. She also leads the team in hits (76), runs (57) and steals (17). Powell’s total career steals (38) currently rank fourth all-time at A&M behind Sharonda McDonald (47). The Conroe native added another run and a team-leading 26th multi-hit game against Auburn in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday. She is not only a reliable staple in the batting order, but her defensive talent gives the Aggies an advantage in the infield. Powell's three errors are a career low in 52 games played at third base.
Micaela Wark - Designated Player/Infielder - Senior from Frisco, Texas
2026 Stats: 51 games .315/.435/.713 37 R, 45 H, 19 HR, 65 RBI
A senior transfer from Oklahoma State, Wark claimed her first career All-SEC recognition. Coming to A&M after three seasons with the Cowgirls and a redshirt freshman season at Kansas, she led the Aggies in home runs (19) and RBI (65) in the regular season. 2026 marks the third year Wark has recorded double-digit home runs, and she added three more RBI against Auburn in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, tying Mac Barbara's 2025 total for the third-most Aggie RBI in a single season (68). Wark adds depth to the Aggie power-hitting core, acting as the clean-up hitter behind Perez.
Sidne Peters - Pitcher - Junior from Santa Fe, Texas
2026 Stats: 14-5, 115.2 IP, 4 S, 2.84 ERA, 125 K
During her first injury-free year in Aggieland, Peters led A&M’s pitching staff in ERA (2.84), strikeouts (125) and saves (4). The left-hander was a consistent part of Ford’s staff, providing stability and reliability in several key moments throughout the season. During SEC play, she posted a 6-2 record with a 2.93 ERA, striking out 57 batters in 55 innings. At Washington, Peters hauled in All-Pac-12 Freshman team honors.
