Yeah I agree. They've all been predicting escape or hoping even with Jaime help which is not a reach. Nobody has suggested he exact some serious revenge on the way out. That would be a dead giveaway.

I've seen someone on there suggest the return of Cat way back early in the season but I think it was in jest. Everyone also expects something big on the wall and stannis to arrive but nobody has suggested Jon as LC.

I doubt we get the Lord commander vote in ep 10

I think it'll play out like this:

End of episode 9, Stannis, Melisandre, & Co. save the day and defeat the wildlings at the wall.

Episode 10, Stannis wants to be in control of the wall and the brothers vote Jon in as LC. I also think all of the remaining stark children (except Rickon) end the season with a significant happening (episode title "The Children") and then a final scene revealing Lady Stoneheart.

^i agree with mid

i do think the LC happens in ep. 10....the title the children leads me to believe it heavily involves something significant for all the children

jon - LC
arya - off to braavos
sansa - who knows
bran - bloodraven quote
jamie/tyrion - obvious the children of tywin

and yeah LSH revealed in the end with Brienne captive i think....right after you think it's over...an epilogue of sorts.

it is 66 minutes long it will be very full of stuff, not the usual wrap up episode

I feel like the Children also refers to the dragons. Dany considers them her children and this is where she has to face the fact that they are killing innocent children, and she has no control over them at all.

^good point...would be fitting for this finale as well

Agree with all of the above. When it comes to Jon and being Lord Commander, I can see them maybe putting his name out there without actually having the vote until next season. They definitely drew it out a bit in the book with multiple rounds of voting. It would still get people talking during the break but leave them some story for later.
It'd be much more shocking though to not even have nominations and have him come out on top in Ep. 10. His warnings of needing to prepare for the battle and then possible heroics during will be used to propel him to a "surprise" victory of Ser Alliser. I can already see his face of shock that a ******* could beat him.

I wanted to bring up some questions regarding Bran's vision from Episode 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6fq-elMOKg...starts at 2:48).

So we know that he can see things past/present through the weirwoods, correct? Has it been discussed that he can see possibilities of the future or simply the future as it will be? The Three-eyed Raven tells him that the past cannot be changed, but I can't remember any mention of the present/future. Perhaps on purpose? With that in mind:

1. Is Leaf at 3:06?
2. Is the horse at 3:11 different from the one at 26:26 of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaXbz6YZt9U (the scene with the WW baby)? There isn't a shot that looks exactly the same, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Maybe we do get Coldhands after all though. It shows the similarity between him and a WW, but as a wight, his horse would maybe be just dead than frozenish.
3. If he can see the future (even a possibility) then the Red Keep may be sacked (3:12). The iron throne is covered in snow sure, but I never noticed that the roof is missing. Or is this possible symbolism for Jon Snow's royal blood?

I really like the snow on throne = Jon Snow Dog!

But with the threat of the white walkers, I think it at least also symbolizes that conflict coming to KL (if not a direct viewing of the future)

I hope they keep the fact that it was Sam's machinations that got Jon elected. That was the first time in the series that you realized that if Sam would just stop stammerig "I'm a craven" and actually do something that he was pretty clever.

well i keep thinking about the LSH reveal...not sure why it needs to be with Brienne in any way...yet.

why not just like in Storm of Swords epilogue except whatever Frey's are involved would likely be unknown to viewers....

But it went down with several Brotherhood w/o Banners taking Freys prisoner and then bringing Merrett Frey there supposedly to negotiate their release. Only they confront him about the red wedding and he demands proof in the form of a wintess and then LSH comes forward and reveals herself. And they hang the Freys.

They could leave the entire how, why, etc. and any involvement with Brienne and Pod for next season. Just leave 'em guessing. It wasn't until book 4 that they encountered Brienne and Pod.

Not sure what is preferable - leaving hem guessing how LSH returned...or leave 'em guessing if Brienne survives...but you would think they need to show her exacting revenge on some Freys too.

wants - besides the battle at the wall and stannis return - in last 2 eps, in order of priority not appearance:

1. tyrion/jamie convo - then revenge of the imp
2. jon as LC
3. arya off to braavos, parts with hound although that makes me sad
4. LSH revealed (with or without brienne)
5. dany's children in "dragons gone wild" episode, then get locked up
6. bran meets bloodraven with his quote

if i get all of that i'm really pleased as a book reader.

and i think non book readers are left kinda floored...and really in a cannot wait mood for season 5:

a. tyrion to the dark side...where does he go, what does he do?
b. holy crap jon on the wall meant something and that was epic battle
c. sad about hound, but what will this mean for arya?
d. LSH/uncat is back - holy S did not see that coming...true WTF moment
e. well now whats dany gonna do without her dragons?
f. ok so i still don't know what the F is going on with bran...but that was interesting at least

they will be all over the map then on where it goes from there which is perfect....

if they are trying to pad out the show a bit until the next book comes out, it would be silly to have jon as LC right after the episode with the battle.

They could make that 3-4 episodes of season 5, including the machinations of Stannis trying to give him Winterfell and name him Jon Stark (at which point he will go 2-for-18 against the Rockets).

As to what all the Stark children are doing for the end of the episode, they should have Rickon, now with a full beard and 6 foot tall, wandering along some road with Osha saying, where the hell are we going again?

Or something to that effect.

Listen to 9 - The Biggest Fire the North Has Ever Seen - and then track 15 - Let's Kill some Crows - holy crap that scares the beejeezus out of me....gonna be epic me thinks.

what about 18 - Forgive Me - is that a Ygritte/Jon scene, her death?

And 22 - the Children - that sounds like a Dany scene, no? Really doesn't sound like a Bran scene....hmmmm.

No LSH song but that may not mean anything.

also of interest to me is that the cover is the three eyed crow - ummm yeah i'd say that means it has some real importance before the season ends, not just some bird Bran has been following.

Also of note.

the cast list for Watchers on the Wall on IMDB lists everyone you would expect in the north and and on the wall....and it lists Peter Dinklage.

could be a mistake, they are sometimes error prone. Or there could be one scene alone in his cell awaiting execution....hmmmm.

It does not list LSH...but then again it may be erroneous or it may be intentionally left out.

Jon hasn't done **** this season aside from the added fighting scenes with the wildlings in episode 5 or so. I highly doubt that they'll ramp things up to the point that he becomes Lord Commander in episode 9 or 10.

Though I suppose nothing they do will surprise me at this point, given that half of Brienne's chapters have been skipped (thankfully), Bran is already deep into book 5, etc.

I just rewatched the first episode of this season.

When Jon Snow is being questioned by the lead Brothers of the Nightswatch, he says that Tormund and Ygritte's band of raiders was instructed to attack Castle Black from the South when Mance attacks from the North. He said the signal would be a bonfire, and that it would be, "The biggest fire the North had ever seen."

I think that confirms what most of us have concluded: Ygritte's raid from the South and Mance's attack from the North will both happen in tonight's episode.

Also, I still think Arya and the Hound in the tavern with Polliver & co. is my favorite scene of this season, maybe even the whole series so far.

That was pretty ****ing awesome. Way more epic in scope than Blackwater. Absolutely fantastic directing, editing, pacing. Really glad they didn't try to rush the stannis comeback, bet we'll see that as the opening next week

I forget, did pyp and grenn both die in the books during the battle? I teared up at that. Love how grenn replaced Donal Noye in holding the gate.
