How long do you want to ignore this user?
The season is officially half over, there are 7 things that MUST happen in the next 5 episodes to be on track with the books.

1. Trial by words. (ep 6-7)
2. Trial by combat (ep 8)
3. Tywin's death (ep 10)
4. Tyrion's escape (ep 10)
5. Wildings attack the Wall (ep 9)
6. Lysa's death (ep 7)
7. King Baelon's death (anytime)

- Tommen's Wedding is AFFC
- Dany's plot is meaningless until 2016
- Bran meets Coldhands in ASOS but it isnt necessary for this season, Bran's story is no longer restrained by "has to happen on schedule"
- Arya can leave Westeros whenever, it doesnt matter when she drops valar margoulus to some bravosi, it would be nice to see the Hound bested just to end that relationship

Anything that happens to Jaime, Breinne, or Westeros's can wait for S5 (Book4).

Something about this episode reminded that Bran is a Stark. "Winter IS coming!" And like so many of his ancestors, he will protect the North, in the end.

Someone has been reading ahead...

From the non-spoiler thread
quote:

no, they killed Jon years ago. had nothing to do with killing Joffery. and Tywin sent Littlefinger to get Lysa back under control.

But he's involved with both deaths. The lannisters want the eyrie, not lysa's silence, or she'd be dead by LF already.

1. Trial by words. (ep 6-7) mountain v viper
2. Trial by combat (ep 8) mountain v viper
3. Tywin's death (ep 10) mountain v viper or children
4. Tyrion's escape (ep 10) mountain v viper or children
5. Wildings attack the Wall (ep 9) watchers
6. Lysa's death (ep 7) mocking bird...
7. King Baelon's death (anytime) mocking bird.

That's my prediction. Other things must happen but fills in those nicely.

I do not think "The Children" refers to the children of the forest. I think it will be a White Walker scene with Craster's sons.

I am gonna go ahead and say the entire ending has been spoiled.

When Jojen is using his sight, talking of the Great Weirwood. Bran asks him "when will it be over?" Jojen looks at his hand on fire and says "you'll know when its over".

Nope I def. think it means the dragons are gonna try to burn everything down. The fire represented dragon fire.

As the last episode it could mean when "the children" rise up Tyrion kills Tywin, craster's basterds do some white walking, and maybe someone else's "child" does something bad. Doesn't one of the dragons kill someone they aren't supposed to?

small detail to clarify, it is Drogon, not Balerion. Sorry to be super stickler GoT nerd there.

That was in ADWD. I think that was the moment dany ordered the dragons into the dungeons. Thus setting up the Martell fail.

I have to say, this wasn't my favorite episode. I felt the scene with Pod and Brienne was useless. Cersei practically begging Margery to take care of and influence Tommen? edit: Oh, and now Dany has a bunch of ships?

I guess we aren't supposed to remember what the Bloody Gate looked like in season 1, either.

With any luck none of that will happen b/c they won't bother introducing Quentyn.

Good catch. It's been a while since I've read the books

On the eyrie, I don't think we ever actually saw the bloody gate before, also the eyrie itself is much different than what we saw in S1.

On the iron bank, it looks like Stannis is taking a little detour to Braavos. Was hoping that aerial shot would be from Arya's pov to end the season or at least her season. Still really enjoy her dynamic with the the hound and hope they find someone good for the kindly man

Jojen, I thought the dialogue was about the journey to the 3EC and it would be over when they had to burn jojens body. Also, HODOR

I thought cersei was acting very strange as well, just accepting margaery without a fight like that

Another fabulous episode. What did they say when the found the body Hodor/ Bran killed. It sounded like "8 owls could have done that."

I mean, maybe. I thought it was Jojen seeing his own death = burning alive, as he was the only one on fire, no one else and none of his surroundings.

to echo several other posters,

what the hell was up with cersei? her being nice to Margaery makes no sense with her character development so far, even aside from the book. But, you'd think there would be a little camera shot that showed Cersei's face with a smirk or something after conversing with Margaery if she was indeed faking it

I got Coldhand catfished so many times this episode!

then Bran wants to talk to Jon, and I thought Coldhands would maybe take him away

nope

then the fat deserter running through the woods, and all the crows gather round him! COLDHANDS

nope just Ghost

WTF i'm angry!

Also couldn't "the children" be about the Stark children reaching their destinations and Lady Stoneheart's reveal to end the season?

Bran meets the Bloodraven
Arya reaches Bravos
Sansa is planned to engaged to the heir and Littlefingers plan is underway
Jon is made Lord Commander(maybe not since B*st*rd).
Cap it off with Lady Stoneheart to cap the season

Am I the only one ambivalent about Coldhands? Purely following the storyline, he is not supposed to show up yet.

Wrong. They (Bran's party) met him just on the other side of the wall.

UPDATE: Coldhands is out.

https://www.facebook.com/PetyrBaelishLittlefinger/posts/522348684481555

Original post was July 10, 2013. Edit was made April 29, 2014.

It looks like they cut out Coldhands. Bran will definitely meet the Bloodraven this season, so if Coldhands is "out," then that tells us something possibly significant about the story. This might mean Coldhands doesn't have a bigger role to play in the story after the Bloodraven. If D&D can cut out Coldhands assistance getting Bran to the Bloodraven, then he must not do anything after that either.

The show had a great opportunity to have CH rescue Bran and begin their journey before Jon Snow arrived and still be true to the books because CH is the one that kills the mutineers, but they chose not to introduce him. They could always introduce CH when Bran & Co. are attacked by wights, but if CH doesn't do anything besides that one event, then it might be easier to just cut him out of the story altogether.

I hope we see CH, but the recent episode and this FB post make me doubt that we will ever see him.

Oh, if the show timeline right now is when CH was supposed to have appeared, I totally wrote that off. CH was only interesting to me if he is/was Benjen.

I'm not quite ready to write off CH, there may be an opportunity to bring him back later on as Bran's progresses as the next greenseer.

They are going to bring in ColdHands at some point just to give some excitement to the rest of Bran's journey. Guarantee he will save them from getting captured by wildlings marching south to the wall or something along those lines.

Also, please tell me the comment that Jojen's dream spoiled the ending for them was a joke. If you didn't know that it was going to end with Dragons vs. Others, you are as dense as they come.

Oh, in regards to Bran: What does everyone think will become of Bran controlling Hodor? Seems like they've allowed the foundation to be set for Bran to do that whenever they get into trouble. Jojen seemed to encourage it last night. I can't remember the book but I thought Jojen wasn't comfortable that Bran did it that one time in the stronghold during the storm.
