As stated earlier, I have never cared for Stannis. I think he is weak.

Others on this thread have stated that he is a strategic genius. Maybe so but I think he is weak psychologically. I don't care for weak people. I think Sansa is weak as well. I don't really care what happens to her story line.

I want Jon Snow, Arya, Tyrion, and Bran to make it until the end. Dany is just window dressing at this point.

What a repellent act, killing his own daughter. I have to say, though, that I am reminded that one of the foundational texts of Western Civ, Aeschylus' Oresteia, is based on Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter (with bad results for Agamemnon).

Another would be Abraham and Isaac. Although the act was not carried out.

I don't buy Davos knowing. He simply wanted her away from danger. He said goodbye because he was leaving for awhile and they are in dangerous situations. Every goodbye could be the last. Davos wouldn't sit by and let her die if he didn't let them kill Gendry.

Stannis turning away from the fire is a huge deal, since you have to see what the flames show you to truly know the path.

How will he know what his daughter's sacrifice revealed unless he still wholeheartedly believe the red witch after all this.

I don't think Davos knew what would happen, but he knew it was a distinct possibility.

For me, Shireen's death was the hardest scene to watch of the whole series, and that's saying something. She panicked when she saw the stake, and she screamed for her father to help her while he watched and did nothing. Even her cold-hearted mother realized, too late, as her maternal instincts kicked in, that nothing can be worth that horrible sacrifice.

So... Is anyone here still rooting for Stannis over the Boltons at the upcoming battle at Winterfell?

Unsullied are badass warriors, not really meant to be police, is how I look at.

The United States military can annihilate any opposing army but has a real beech of a time in the ME quelling armed insurrection and preventing minority groups from causing havoc, for example.

I don't know the answer, but I think the point was sheer numbers overwhelming the handful of Unsullied there. Which was a pretty big blunder given how often those harpy fcks were causing trouble.
