Went to Zaxby's for the first time tonight. enjoyed it. The inside space is nice. glad they had TV's showing sports. Think they might find a niche here as a little different than a Chick-fil-a, Chicken Express, Bush's, but not quite a Wings n more/ Buffalo Wild Wings type place. The food was good. loved their coleslaw. chicken was tasty. fried mushrooms were good, and i also like the Texas toast more than a biscuit or a roll, the only negative i have are the crinkle cut fries. does anybody even eat those things anymore? It's not 1979. there are so many better options today as far as fries go.

Love Zaxbys. Underrated spot actually

Why are crinkle cut fries an issue; isn't a fried potato piece a fried potato piece?

Saw them working on the signage for the upcoming beer and wine supply store at the old Glass Doctor.

At the Governor's Business conference today Chef Tai was a speaker and said they broke ground on a new restaurant today.
Southwest corner of 40 and Barron.
2 story, bar on top with view of campus, and restaurant similar in layout to Veritas on ground floor.

Between this and Casa de Brazil (friend is consulting on their wine program), South College Station finally has something like a budding dining scene. This is great news...hope both these places get supported.

That premiere INC link goes to some health care company from Virginia is that correct? From that website:

Yes, if you look at the career section, a few open positions in College Station.

Per KBTX:

Quote:

In relocating to Century Square, Premier Inc.'s capital equipment planning and procurement office in Texas will occupy approximately 8,500 square feet of premium office space in the Century Square
One Office Building, located on the third floor overlooking the Bonfire Memorial.

"We are thrilled to bring this Premier team to Century Square as we continue to live out our mission of improving healthcare of communities," said Jimmy Lippard, Sr. Director of Real Estate & Facilities at Premier Inc.

Tru Fit seems to have bad reviews in other cities for pushy salespeople. I wonder what will happen to the Aerofit there on 29th if it's closing. Will it be sold to the nearby apartment complex?
So far, this seems like a fiasco wrapped in a disaster. Lots of folks use that Carter Creek location. I've heard Tru Fit is being bullheaded about letting people out of contracts if they aren't happy with the sudden moving and shaking.

Tough year for independent gyms in this town. Sheesh.

Has there been any further news of the "major retailer or grocer" going in at Fitch and 6? I believe the Target rumor was debunked, but haven't heard anything further.
Suppose it's Walmart? The one there at 2818 and Texas Avenue is always crowded and there's probably room for a fourth. Mileage-wise it's as far away from the 2818/Texas Avenue one as the Villa Maria/2818 one is from Briarcrest.
Isn't it Kroger? I thought I remembered reading that earlier.
I heard Kroger Marketplace rumors a few years ago from someone who worked at the Bryan one, and talking to other employees at the RP store indicated they heard it too.

But since Southwest Parkway's store closed without replacement or without one in the pipeline (if my sources are correct, the Kroger in Bryan closed some months before its replacement on the freeway) I'm inclined to not believe any rumors until they file some sort of plan with P&D. Their market share has locally plummeted now to third place; the company has really cut back on new builds and doesn't tend to invest in areas with low market share.

Could it happen? It's not outside the realm of possibility, but I don't believe it.
This is interesting regarding Kroger:

Future job openings

Job openings at the closed location that were posted 10/7/17.

Looks like they're going to make a pharmacy drive-through in the middle of the parking lot since the original one by the store will be removed for the expansion. Would be nice to know more about it, though, if it's just more of the same stuff or cool features (looks a bit small for the Marketplace prototype, but maybe it can have a beer and wine bar).

There is a Kroger Signature in Las Colinas (Irving) which was expanded a couple of years back. It is now essentially a Marketplace without clothing and home decor. My guess is that they are doing a similar renovation in Bryan. Somewhat ironically, the original floor plan of the Las Colinas store was identical to the Rock Prairie store.

Does anyone know if the Aggieland VIP Card program is still operational? It provides discounts to lcal restaurants and services.

I paid for my new card about seven weeks ago, but it has not arrived. Emails haven't been answered and I tried calling today to no avail.

It's been a great service for several years. But has it gone kaput?
