I'm assuming studying students aren't into a wine bar without wifi.

But I'm probably wrong and they'll all be holed up under their Tipsy Bean tables during finals like

The reviews I'm hearing from people who've tried it are positive. I hope y'all succeed, and I'll be trying it soon myself.

New Business - signs up for Cuts for Kids next door to Hooks Dental/Honeybaked Ham store on feeder road near Rock Prairie.

In regard to Tipsy Bean. If you are having a wine bar at night most people are there to socialize with friends over wine and a cheese plate or dessert. I would prefer to find seating without having 10-15 college students with open laptops who bought a coffee four hours ago Lupa coffee caters to college students and does quite well but not as a wine bar at night

That said went this morning to check it out. Still working on the little things. Wife liked the coffee but pastries weren't what she expected and I agree after being there this morning. Should do well if they can get the wine crowd at night

Looks like Sharkey's Cuts for Kids. Franchise with cool seats for kids. Race car, hummer, barbie jeep, etc...

There's renovation work at the old Albertsons (next to Walmart) and signs for "Altitude Trampoline Park" on the outside windows.

Revive 45 Music is closing their music lesson school in Bryan at the end of April. Artist management and their involvement in music booking and events in the area will continue.

Looks like a new night club called "Knight Club" is going in the west gate shopping center.

Seems like some redevelopment is going to happen to that shopping center across the street from Copy Corner on Texas Ave.

BCS is getting a THIRD trampoline park? They're awesome and all, but can we support 3 of those things?

Its like everyone realized there was an unfilled market here at around the same time but didn't pay attention to who else had put permit requests in

I doubt it, but I took the kids on a Saturday not too long ago, and the line to get in went out the door and there were WAYYYYY too many kids in there for it to be any fun.

A second place in College Station would alleviate some of the weekend crowds, but a third?

Or maybe all three are needed since every time there's a thread about "Hey, I'm visiting College Station for a weekend, anything interesting for the kids?", the answer is always "Umm...Bush Library...Children's Museum...parks?"

I'm doubtful that we could support 3, but it is good to have options. The 2 with the best price/location/service will likely survive.

Also, the one planned to be going in by Aldi seems to be on the same time line for opening as Carp's Sports Bar.

All these trampoline parks and we still don't have a legit bar/sports bar in South College Station. It's like people want to fail.

I think it's more a factor of lack of originality.
There are people with more dollars than sense.
They follow what worked for someone else somewhere else.
Sometimes it pays, but there are reasons startups have a 80% failure rate.

Not sure how Carps will do. First not a chain and second in location where people like chains.

I'd much rather go to a place in carps location for drinks after I get home than have to drive to ng or downtown Bryan

We were in Bossier City, LA over Spring Break and took my kids to Altitude Trampoline Park. It was their first time at any trampoline park and they had a great time. Last week, they went to Jumping World for Friday night "Teen Night." In their words, Jumping World was 'lame.' Altitude had a lot more to offer and they are very excited to see it come to College Station.

I did notice that Jumping World had a notice in their window about getting a license to sell alcohol. Not sure they are going to be a place I want to drop off my kids on a Friday night.

Maybe I am a nerd, but I enjoyed this brief podcast with a CS city planner discussing new residential development and population estimates.

I'm not sure how Carp's will do because I think it is seems to be on the same schedule as the Rock Prairie/Longmire construction project.

I hear that Carp's is having problems with TABC licensing due to the proximity to the school.

Weird, because Tipsy Bean, wine and all, is much closer to Kiddie Academy than Carp's is to KA or any public school.

From what I understand it has to do with the liquor license not the beer & wine.

Enjoyable but on the population estimates she referred to a "standard formula" using the number of units in a complex to estimate its number of residents. This would likely over estimate the population in apartments with large numbers of single bedroom units. Then again, she may correctly account for that factor.

Slurpee to return to Aggieland?

They disappeared when the old 7-11 Slurpee machines at numerous EZ-Mart's finally gave out.

From the linked article:

7-Eleven is also buying the trademarks of the Laredo Taco Company and Stripes.

I heard a rumor (just a rumor, but it comes from someone I trust) that Trader Joe's may be moving into the old Kroger on southwest and Texas. Anybody hearing anything like that?
