I do that even when there is a 95" base.JustPanda said:
Where you REALLY want to avoid is ANYTHING ANYTHING ANYTHING moguls.
Every now and then I get smoked by a tele guy on the bumps. Simply a level of skiing I'll never achieve.docb said:
Once you can ski moguls efficiently then you have become a good skier IMO. If you ever end up in Steamboat Nelson Carmichael offers a free moguls clinic to give some tips on how to ski them. It's amazing watching him go down them but he is a professional skier.
I will never achieve it either. I am 53 years old and my skiing trajectory has already peaked and his headed in the wrong direction. I am just happy to still be skiing the double blacks some. I did not go skiing for the first time until I was in high school so I was never going to be great. It is amazing to me how good my son is but he's been skiing since he was very small and is 16 now. Crazy what a difference it makes for a kid who is able to log a lot of time on the mountain. I've always been the guy who would much rather go fly fishing than skiing.RangerRick9211 said:Every now and then I get smoked by a tele guy on the bumps. My groomer/crud/carving/tree, essentially daily driver, ski is 105 under foot. I'm probably a bit too wide, but it's my quiver killer ski (I run shifts, so it's also my backcountry ski).
Dedicated corduroy and bump ski, I think I'm skiing 85-95.

Boy…yall talking about ski touring set ups gets me giddy.
My daily driver are Icelantic Nomad 115's cause they fit what I love to do and spend a fair amount of time on the Utah slopes.
Buuut..living in Texas where I can make 3-4 trips a season, I'd rather get a bunch of laps in then do the touring. No doubt if I lived anywhere near a mountain, that's what I'd be so deep in it's not even funny. Love to run in my free time and can't imagine how fun of a cardio workout that would be.

Exact reason why i won't get into mountain biking haha I love skiing and fly fishing too much and don't think I can fit it in.
Edit to add I'm in Houston too currently, got my head spinning!

Man it's hard to ski that far south this year! Got the Ikon Base so usually stick to the I-70 spots.
But with the fly rod in hand, I typically stick to the backcountry and camp. The solitude and peace does it for me! Will be out in So Col on some tributaries of the Conejos doing fairly high altitude meadow fishing for some browns if you ever play in that area

You got those forecasts for Whitefish, Big Sky, and Schweitzer? Is that some kind of dashboard you have setup?

Bikes are next level pricey. They guys at my shop are all bikers. Either ex BMX pros or super cross pros. Next levels of no fear.
When am I gonna get you guys on some ski bikes?? I got some sick Lenz'.
Planning a Heli ski bike trip at some point in the late spring. Should be a hella jump off.
We'll be there 3-7. Staying right at the Waldorf gondola at the parents timeshare with Wyndham.JustPanda said:
