Yeah, it's certainly feeling more and more like it'll get a Best Picture nom. And then yeah, it should receive another bump in viewership after that.

IMO, I could see the theoretical part 2 being nominated, just because there is way more meat to the story in the second half. This movie primarily serves as build up for the drama that would occur in Part 2.

Best analogy for you is Two Towers leading into Return of the King.

That said, this will sweep the design, cinematography, and maybe soundtrack awards.

the movie is half the story. yes.

at present there is no part 2 in active development. may never get a part 2 depending on performance.

Absolutely beautiful looking movie. Amazing Zimmer score. This is the experience IMAX is made for.

The story seems like a typical hero's journey, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. My biggest complaint is that it's obviously incomplete and very much feels it. It would be INCREDIBLY disappointing if the next movie wasn't made.

A bit of a slow burn, but the visuals enough kept me engaged the whole way through.

Wow, long time fan of the Dune that I grew up with, but this new one was very satisfying. I will watch this one again and probably still go see it in theaters

Dune was pretty unreal to see in theaters even if you're not a sci-fi nerd or into the story. JV certainly knows how to create a spectacle and Hans Zimmer is basically infallible at this point.

I haven't felt this way about a movie since Fellowship of the Ring. I got to the end of a three hour movie ready to roll right into the next one without batting an eye. Just spectacular.

I'm a Dune fan (book and Lynch's movie), but if it takes you 4 viewings… I don't think of that as a ringing endorsement, at least to casual moviegoers (for reference I got the appeal of Citizen Kane after my my first viewing).

No way. Can't do it. Just feels so off to me like there is some weird parallax issue that doesn't actually exist but makes viewing seem off.
