You don't send a guy that hits like Solak down to AAA for reps. He can get reps in between games/during BP. They want his bat in the lineup and he will be on the 26.

I'd really like to go to opening day at the new ballpark, this kind of throws a wrench in those plans
If you have a ticket to the March 31st Opening Day game, you still have an Opening Day ticket.

How will that work?

In all seriousness, we don't know how it's going to work. Still waiting on info from MLB.

What we hope is that the games from 3/31-4/12 will be added to the end of the season.

The other possibility is to play a shortened season. In this case, the unplayed games would be rolled back to your account as a credit that you can then use to purchase tickets to other games

Good thing we have an indoor stadium - playing into October/November is no big deal.

The Ballpark could host games any month of the year...

What I'm hearing is that the plan is to move forward as if the season will start on April 13th. The games missed from 3/26 to 4/12 will just be added to the end of the season.

Obviously this is all still a fluid situation and we'll continue to evaluate day by day

Very interesting. That could make for some very cold November World Series games (although it's really just two weeks past the normal time, and they'll probably make up some of the regular season games with doubleheaders).

And some trivia for those that don't know this story. From 1981-2004, a husband and wife team made the entire schedule for MLB in their own home.

Cool, just picked up a couple of tickets for the Monday night (4/13) game against the Yankees. Opening Day!

It won't be as simple as that.

There's millions of dollars in MLB Opening Day sales already placed throughout the primary and secondary markets - customers aren't going to accept their "Opening Day" ticket is now good for some likely meaningless regular season game in October.

Whatever the solution, it's going to be messy.

But I highly doubt we're playing ball by April 13th.

This is just getting started. There is probably some potential that we wont have baseball until late May or June.

The incremental creep of these cancellations/suspensions should have everyone concerned that there ain't gonna be attended baseball for a good while.

The Trump presser doc had 8-9 weeks as his optimistic timeline to get in front of this. That's really about the earliest I see sports picking back up. So yeah, I think mid-May is already the optimistic view while April is a pipe dream

As much as it's going to suck missing baseball in the spring, having a shortened season that begins in June could be really fun as teams will stay in the playoff race for longer and no one is worrying about innings limits for young pitchers.

I really hope that doc is right.

I think society can handle 1-2 months of this, but going on 6+ months is a much different story.

To be fair, he did caveat that as his optimistic view if what we're doing works. So it could very well be longer as that was basically best case. Agree with concerns about our ability to handle this longer than that if things get bad

CDC recommending no gatherings of 50 or more for 8 weeks. Looks like June would be best case scenario for the season to start.

Damn expanding rosters to 26 really screwed us there.

Cut rosters to 21, the manager is the only coach allowed, four umpires, one guy on a camera behind home plate, one security guard to unlock the door and let's play ball.

That's easy, modify the roster rules so that 4 SPs and one RP or non-pitcher can be carried on 26 man roster but but ineligible to play on the 21 man game roster. Fly everyone to a single park. Wait 14 days for quarantine. Lock players in the hotel room otherwise.

Play ball April 1st. Hell, let's use Globe Life because it's new (germ-free), and centrally located.

The Rangers' Willie Calhoun suffered a fractured jaw March 8, but the outfielder has made encouraging progress in the week-plus since then. Calhoun flew back to Texas with his teammates on Monday after receiving medical clearance, MLB.com TR Sullivan of MLB.com tweets. Aside from the fractured jaw, Calhoun's not dealing with any other symptoms. He's slated to begin light cardio activity later this week.

After taking a 95 mph fastball in the face from the Dodgers' Julio Urias, Calhoun looked like a sure bet to open the season on the injured list. But that was before Major League Baseball shut down for an indeterminate amount of time because of the global coronavirus pandemic. It's obvious that the longer play is halted, the better Calhoun's chances are of logging a full season, though it's anyone's guess when the sport will resume or how many games the league will squeeze in this year.

A full slate from Calhoun would undoubtedly be welcome for the Rangers, who saw the former top-100 prospect turn into a solid contributor in 2019. Calhoun, 25, accrued a career-high 337 plate appearances and batted .269/.323/.524 with 21 home runs and an impressive 15.6 percent strikeout rate.

The health of Calhoun figures to affect the role of Nick Solak, also 25. Solak had been in line to fill in as the Rangers' left fielder during Calhoun's absence. Solak can move around the diamond, though, as he played second and third during his initial big league stint last season and lined up at all three outfield positions as a minor leaguer. And Solak certainly made a case for a larger role during his MLB debut last year, when he hit a robust .293/.393/.491 and tallied five homers in 135 trips to the plate.

Hoping we get some games this year. Even if it is just a 50 game sprint.
