Got my R6050 up and running yesterday...really easy and I'm loving the Netgear Genie app (via web, smart phone or tablet!)

Speeds seem faster and the coverage is pretty good in our long, one-story 1959 ranch style house.

Oh and it looks cool too...ha.

So, anyone going to give their modem a bad review on Amazon? I hate to do it, but the connection has only stabilized now that we're in winter and the temperature has dropped an overage of 5-10 degrees in the space of the modem. I'll see if it warms back up soon I might try see if it fixed itself or if it truly was overheating.

Have you given Netgear a chance to fix it? Maybe your unit is not right.

Truth be told, after having issues for a week straight I gave up on it and switch to my old modem. I'll hook it back up tonight.

I had an xfinity guy come and set up the modem to make sure everything worked just fine. it was easy since i was getting my cable set up the same day

I had the overheating issue when I had the modem placed behind my tv. Moved it to a more open space and haven't had an issue since. Left my positive review in place as a result. Been too lazy but will eventually add an addendum to it stating to not place the modem in an enclosed space.

I'm still having issues with mine. In fact, I tested it again last night to be sure (worked for 20 minutes, then failed after that). I'm giving Netgear support a chance to resolve before posting a review (when it does work, it is very fast).

I'd be doing the same. I have a small NPO client that really needs to move to VMWare for their few servers, and I've been getting them ready with a small FreeNAS using iSCSI, and would rather move them to a non-cobbled-together device but they don't have the extra budget right now... Were I to test a 312/314, I'd test it at home and then place it to them (my own systems work just fine )

Have you given Netgear a chance to fix it? Maybe your unit is not right.
I e-mailed them about 10 days ago, just got a response yesterday asking for my phone number so they could help me troubleshoot. I'm going to hold off until I can work through the issue with them.

And my modem is already in the open quite a bit. I'm pretty sure if it warms up a few degrees I'll start losing connection stability again.
