Valley Park will have awesome views for the apartments facing campus. Will also add apartment options closer for Veterinary, Medical and RELLIS students.

Agreed, and interesting most are slated to be 1-bedroom. Maybe the demographic is the professional level student (Med School, Vet School, etc.) who doesn't want to have to deal with roommates, or a young professional who stays local and has more income to spend. Interesting roll of the dice, for sure!

Whimsy & Wild Emporium is opening up tomorrow in downtown Bryan, right on Main Street and close to WJB. They're two local families and it's a bookstore, they host events, and do music lessons and tutoring. Very cool store and the themes and decoration they've got inside are worth checking out. Its aptly named, very magical and whimsical! They have some events planned for this summer to check out, and I think they will be a great addition to the community!

A restaurant is being built at the corner of South College Ave and E North Ave. From the look of the plans it's looks very suburban. I thought this area was supposed to be Bryan's Midtown area with design standards? If so they suck. Midtown should be urban and walkable, not the sameness of any suburban town USA.

If it's a Pluckers, nobody will give a pluck about standards.

That lot is between an auto repair shop and a CPA office and across the street from a laundromat....

I thought Midtown began several blocks north where the golf course used to be, but TBH I haven't looked at the master plan.

It is an odd spot for a restaurant. I would want to be closer to where the action is. Somewhere closer to Big Shots.

What's your "they suck" comment based on? I see no elevations or renderings of what it will look like.

It's a 1200 sf restaurant with 10 parking spaces. Seems to me like they're going to have to have walkers come in as 10 spots isn't much for a lunch or dinner crowd.

I ate at Burger House for lunch today and had the thought that they'd do well in a new space. But they need more than 10 parking spots.

Midtown, as I understand it from the few meetings I've been a part of, stretches from the golf course area south to where this new place/ Farm Patch/Chicken Oil is.

They suck as far as urban design/planning goes.

Also, in reply to another post, I believe Midtown goes from North of Northgate all the way to South of Downtown.

The image below is how I would imagine the midtown area to look. More of an extension of the urban fabric of Northgate or what Northgate is become with better street layouts.

Anyone know that status of Zoner's Pizza? Their phone seems to be disconnected and the doors are locked. The hours posted on the door says closed on Sunday and Monday, but they've been closed all week.

Rusty reached out to Trader Joes to see about rumors of a store coming to the area. They confirmed there was no store planned at this time.

How does "closed due to internet issues" translate to "all boarded up"??

I would assume by "all boarded up" they meant the metal gated were over the doors, which you never see there since it is a 24 hour store.

Drove by after lunch. Just a couple of big poster board CLOSED signs on the front doors. No boards or metal gates.
no internet means the credit card machine won't work.

I won't clutter this thread again with this (posted it a few pages ago), but here's the link to request a Trader Joe's in your area:

Probably the closest BCS will get to a Buc-ee's for a while...

I recall The Oracle from Yelp having a meltdown over what he believed (mistakenly) was a promise by HEB to bring Central Market to BCS. No one in their right mind believed such a thing would happen...seems the same with TJ's.

That said, Costco coming is a promising sign, and hopefully will pave the way for more good things.

Sounds like they will be selling Buc-ee's products in the store managed by students. Maybe just a Buc-ee's without the gas.

I believe it is across Wellborn from hotel in that parking lot area. Not the small lot in front of Kyle.

But that's across the street from the pedestrian tunnel, which doesn't jive with the article. And not really near the hotel considering the road and railroad in the way.

They need to give a better description. At this point I'm envisioning something the size of the little store between the Pavilion and the library annex until they tell us more.

Or the Bus Stop Snack Bar that was by Reed-McDonald back in the day.

Thats where it is going was originally going to be an architecture building but this will be awesome. Look for this building to be big and impressive

President Banks wants all buildings located next to major roads to look impressive and have a distinct design

So, the giant beaver on the giant sign will be wearing an A&M ball cap and coach's polo?

I'm really stoked to see a good chunk of lot H/61 get replaced with a nice new building. As TommyBrady said, this one is likely to be a really nice building. Especially being on that corner. This thing is going to be INSANE on game days.

Six days per year. Seems like a good trade.

Eventually the University will have a building or statue on every speck if green space on campus. There will be no more tailgating and they can layoff all of the mowing crews and sell all of the mowers.

Then they can get an award for lowering their greenhouse gas emissions since they no longer have a fleet of mowers.

It truly is a win-win.

"intersection of Wellborn Road and the pedestrian tunnel that functions as the main foot and automobile traffic corridor on campus" is an interesting description. Pedestrian tunnel, main foot/auto corridor could also describe the intersection at old main and Wellborn, which would put it in the curved parking lot on the other side of the ILSQ. Not exactly shadow of Kyle and the hotel there though.

Why not just use a street name? It doesn't take but a second or two to look at a map and see the street is named John Kimbrough Blvd (or Old Main if it is the other location).

just look at all that green space around the ISLQ that could be used for tailgating…. If only you could get close enough with a vehicle to unload/load your stuff.
