So, I skimmed the thread over the weekend and have not had a chance to check out any trailer speculation on youtube. With that said, I was curious if anyone wanted to speculate on if they think only clips from the beginning of the film (first act) were appearing here. The one that threw me for a loop was seeing the Falcon in combat... do we expect the First Order will locate Luke & Rey on Ahch-To very early in the film?

Hamill says that initially he didnt like Luke's character development, but then follows it up by saying 'it might be a good thing' and continues by saying he was wrong about TFA's ending.

I think Hamill's original issue with TFA was that he thought that Luke should have been there to witness Han's death.

He's said before when he read the script, when the lightsaber flew out from the snow that he thought he was the one to catch it. He was deflated when it was Rey. Honestly that would have been an awesome entrance... Just after Han dies and Kylo makes quick work of Finn, have Luke appear and hold Kylo off while Rey carries Finn to the ship.

Yeah, the actual TFA teaser trailer ended with the Falcon doing a Immelmann turn (or something similar)
When it landed in the snow, I expected Luke to show up then. I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't there.

How long until everyone decides the Ep 8 trailer actually sucked because it was just the Ep 7 trailer all over again?
You guys realize that TFA "trailer" is really an edit of multiple trailers, right?

Oops. I didn't realize that. Here's another comparison, though, that does match two trailers back to back:
I LOVE the whole thing of the red earth under the layer of surface salt.
Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I don't know why, but I always love salt flat desert landscapes in movies. Lawrence of Arabia, Independence Day, The Right Stuff, The Master... something about that look feels so cinematic. Excited to see it used here as well.

It's definitely for concealment purposes. They send those pod-racer things out there the kick up the red dirt into a big cloud to cover up the fleet of X-Wings coming in low right behind. The X-Wings will emerge from the cloud to fight the AT-4Xs.

Also interesting that it looks to be the Resistance doing so, as you can make out the oppositional AT-ATs in the distance. I feel like this is all very symbolic, with the red being just below the surface of the good guys' home base. As if they're tapping into their dark side, just below their light facade, in order to fight the good fight. Kind of plays into the whole gray/balance thing. I have a feeling we're going to see Rey / The Resistance needing to dabble / wrestle with the dark in order to fight, and potentially vice versa with Kylo / The First Order.
Maybe that's what Laura Dern's character will bring

In Rogue One, they easily destroyed those at-sts because the body was vulnerable due to the cargo nature of those.
In Empire Strikes back, blasters weren't doing anything to them and had to be brought down with rope like a Giant in a cartoon.
I'm not dork enough to know this but I suppose it's possible speeder blasters are weaker than x-wing blasters.
