Guessing based on strong context clues. Kylo doesn't have the band aid on his scar in most other shots in the trailer. Tells me it's right after the events of TFA. I would bet all the money that TLJ opens with a space battle in which The First Order retaliates against the Resistance in basically the moments right after TFA. And that Kylo is basically super pissed / going all in on his hatred now. The fact that Johnson has said this one picks up immediately after TFA - and that we see Rey hand the lightsaber to Luke in the trailer - confirms that. So I'm just putting two and two together.

The Resistance, yes.. but there are likely still Republic ships after their world gets blown up. After the Resistance exposes the First Order, I'm guessing the Republic jumps on board for the cause.

Basically just listening to the music in the trailer over and over now. Starting at :27 with the cello notes (maybe double bass); almost sounds like a bassoon in there too. Nice dark theme to the music.

Well, I guess it's possible, but TFA seemed to be explicit that the Rebuplic (government and fleet) was destroyed. Now, I imagine the member worlds would rally to support and provide new ships...but I don't think it would be within a few weeks of TFA.

The word had gone out shortly before the assault on Starkiller Base what the FO was really up to. The call could we'll have gone out the day before we pick this up.

I agree it would be quick, though.

I don't know...Luke was brought in from wampa attack + hypothermia and back in his speeder to fight some walkers in no time flat. 30 years of advances in bacta technology probably would have Kylo on his feet pretty quick.

This trailer was the best one I've seen since Disney bought Lucasfilm. Easily.


Give me the original teaser for TFA. Still get a thrill with the Star Wars theme playing and the falcon is flying. Gave "a new hope"(couldn't help that one) that they could actually make a good Star Wars movie.

No doubt, but the tone of the trailers matched the tone of the film. I really like the feel of these trailers.

Also I can help but feel Rian listened to JJ when it should've been Phasma v Finn in TFA fight.

Then he was like... oh right people actually care about this character.

I bet she's not a joke in this one. Rian is going full sorry we destroyed Metropolis and THIS FIGHT IS ON AN EMPTY ISLAND.

And I am perfectly ok with that. Probably my favorite shot from the trailer was the reflection off Phasma's helmet

This trailer was the best one I've seen since Disney bought Lucasfilm. Easily.
I thought the original Rogue One trailer with the single piano playing was the best they have done so far.

I'm starting to think the Knights of Ren are the equivalent of the group of bounty hunters in ESB. You know, they took about 20 seconds of footage but equated to massive sales in action figures, posters, t-shirts, etc. Just something about them intrigued to hell out of young boys back then. I would look for still shots in magazines, newsletters, etc, cause I thought Boba Fett and the bounty hunters were so damn cool. And like I said, outside of Boba Fett they had absolutely no impact on the film or the next one. I can still remember their names. Boba Fett, IG-88, Bosk, Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4LOM.

Yeah, kind of getting the feeling the Knights of Ren are a big bag of 30 seconds of smokey, grainy, flashback footage and nothing else.

I jumped on Fandango quickly to reserve tickets and wasn't really prepared for which viewing to choose. I went ahead and went with IMAX 3D...I hope I won't regret that. I'm not always a fan of 3D. I wish there was an IMAX non-3D version.

I was not wowed by the trailer.

It looks incredible.

And I do not mind the down tone.

But I hope that is a lot of misdirection there. Cause god if I can stomach two whiney, emo 20 year olds.

I'm pretty sure anything with red soil/mines is likely the planet Crait...

You know, seeing all those shots lined up together reminds me of a thought I had during my 3rd viewing of this trailer. Leia standing there as the base door closes...wonder who will be stuck out in the elements this time?

Falcon being chased through some sort of mine may as well be an asteroid field.

Snoke is gonna cut off Rey's arm, isn't he?
