Picked a wrong time to go cold in the 4th quarter but our guys just looked tired. Think the back to back caught up to them and guys are playing more minutes because of injuries. Manu didn't play in the fourth. The commentators said a sore left foot.

The all star break could not have come at a better time for them. Currently 1-3 on the rodeo road trip. On the bright side Joffrey played great.

Agree that Mills isn't the whole problem. But he's still one of our lone, healthy, not ancient veterans. He needs to at least contribute in games, especially those games where we don't have too many scoring options. The contract plus his disappearing act when we need him most just makes it all worse.

It's nuts that the Spurs have dropped three straight and have still hung on to the 3rd spot. There's not much separating 3-9 though.

This loss is on the coaching. The spurs are up 12 in the 4th and Pop takes out our best defensive unit and doesn't put them back in until long after they have blown their lead. All of our offense was isolation in the last two mins. The last play was comical.

Pops too busy with his idiotic radical political views
Yep. Once Kawhi's season essentially ended, Pop threw in the towel. He's been doing more political public speaking than coaching, and it's evident in several losses this season, especially the close calls/blown leads... He just doesn't seem to give a s***, win or lose. Frustrating for the fans, but we've definitely been spoiled.

Pop's coaching is fine, maybe even great this year.

For these numbers, I'm dividing minutes played by total games the spurs have played to get MPaG. Aldridge leads the spurs with 32 MPaG. Next is Mills at 24, with his well documented lack of production, followed by Anderson and Gasol. Compare that to the Warriors (the real competition, considering the 3rd place context of our griping), who have 4 allstars over 24 MPaG.

The issue with comparing to the Warriors is that they have a bunch of blowouts to get their relatively balanced numbers, whereas the Spurs have had to put their best lineups on the floor all year, yet after the top 4 the distribution looks pretty similar.

Forbes is 6th. Murray, our starting point guard, is 2 minutes back at 7th. Our second all star is 14th at 3.6 minutes, behind such luminaries as Joffrey Lauvergne (who actually had a great game yesterday) and Brandon Paul.

And this isn't consistent. Because of all the missed games, the minutes come in bunches. 6 players average 20+ MPaG, but 10 average 20+ MPG. That reiterates that it's not just Pop tweaking the starting lineup around two major injuries, it's guys playing 1-2 minutes for a while and then suddenly getting 30 minutes for long stretches of the season because there's no one else.

I know it is probably good for us getting healthy but as a fan I do not like this extra long All-Star break. That being said, I really hope everyone is able to come back healthy and we can salvage this season. If Kawhi is back for good we still have a shot. If he's not then we start making plans for the offseason.

I don't think we have a legit run this year without kawhi, too many inconsistencies. Sad cause manu has been balling out this year, same with LA

Just terrible timing. Feel bad for Manu, who came back for another go this season and has played well.

Only consolation may be that no one will likely be beating out the GSW and Rockets in the West.

It's also going to be tough to bring in any big free agents (not that the Spurs ever do) with Kawhi's future in the air.

Only two games in the loss column separates the Spurs from 9th in the West. The Spurs have one of the toughest schedules remaining in the league with 18/23 of the remaining games being against teams going to the playoffs or in the playoff hunt. Add that to the fact that the Spurs have been playing sub 500 ball over the last 10 games, it's very likely that they will fall, even possibly out of the top eight.

On the plus side, the Spurs have a real good track record with the draft lottery...

ESPN is reporting that the Spurs doctors cleared him to play but he has declined and is seeking a second opinion.

This is really bizarre.

I just hope the underlying thing here isn't Kawhi wanting out. That kind of seems like the direction it's heading.

If the ESPN report is true, there's no doubt Pop's words were a challenge to Kawhi. Pop is probably fed up.

There seems to be a mistrust with the team that stemmed from the misdiagnosis in the beginning. According to Woj, he has been officially cleared by the team for a while. If it's up to him and doesn't want to come back he is either a) not trusting the team and there actually is a rift or b) actually really uncomfortable and not confident about coming back, which is also possible because he didn't seem right when he came back. It looked like he was really holding back.

Jalen Rose's comments are looking less and less crazy now though.

Also if you look at the Tony Parker interview today he kind of smirks when asked about Kawhi. And he kept saying the team has to be optimistic, which tells me he thinks Kawhi can come back.

Lots of smoke in SA. From Aldridge wanting out, to now this.

Pop needs to look in the mirror and take a cue from his own comments and "get over himself".

I see any secret messages to Kawhi here. I see Pop sending a message to the rest of the team saying they need to stop waiting for Kawhi to come back and play ball.
