A trade with LAL that does not include Ingram would be a complete failure.

Not sure that tells us a lot. Was a team option they didn't pick up. Maybe means they are making room on the roster but cap wise he was only making $1.5 mil from what I can find.

Could be nothing. Could be something. The timing is peculiar though as they had a few more days before his contract was guaranteed.

It saves the Lakers about $800k in cap space. Every little bit counts.

Lonzo, Hart, and Kuz are annoying as **** for a bunch of young bucks that haven't proved anything on a crappy team. Running amok on Twitter, rap disses, etc. The Lakers desperately need some veteran leadership.

Seems like the Lalas are trying to force Kawhi for Deng and a future first (top-25 protected, naturally)

What do they see Ingram that makes him so untouchable that they're not willing to offer him up for a deal that could potentially land them Kawhi, LeBron, and Paul George?

Plus, if they have LeBron, Kawhi, and Paul George wtf do they even need Ingram for? I think I'd settle for that sf/pf rotation.

They'd probably start and finish Ball, George, Kawhi, LeBron, and a post with a three point shooter first off the bench and the big three sharing the 3/4 most of the game. Do they think Ingram can and will settle for a role as a catch-and-shoot 2 guard?

Yep, they're all morons, and I'd rather not have any of their immaturity on the Spurs. It seems like basketball is low on the list of priorities. Thanks for all the drama, crybaby Kawhi.

I don't understand how LA is even in the conversation. Their young guys suck aside from Kuzma, and, if they truly get their way, their draft picks will suck too. Philly and Boston have much better assets.

LA is in the conversation because that is where Kawhi apparently wants to go, and the Lakers are the most desperate to get him.

I read that LA may be trying to trade for a better pick to throw into the deal.

Yeah if Kawhi tells every team he is only going to sign with the Lakers then they have to be in the conversation. The only thing the Spurs could do is get Kawhi to sign that monster extension and then trade him elsewhere. That would probably need to involve some lying. But who gives a crap about that with what he is pulling now.

I'm a massive spurs fan, but not an overall NBA fan. Don't really watch much NBA if the spurs aren't playing. All this kawhi bull**** might end up being the impetus that makes me stop watching the NBA altogether.

I think this Wild West showdown duel between the Spurs and Lakers will last into Saturday evening. That's when LA will be most desperate because free agency starts at midnight.

Then they'll capitulate and it will all be done.

I get that, but if LA doesn't have the assets, they don't have the assets. If a team like Philly or Boston makes it to the conference finals in year 1 or actually challenges the Warriors in the finals, Kawhi isn't leaving for a LBJ/PG-less LA squad after next year.

I have never liked Ingram's, Ball's, or Randle's game. If those and a likely late-1st round pick are the offer, that would be absolute robbery.

According to reports, Spurs DO NOT want Ball, which is great to see. He might be the reason a trade never happens with Lakers.

Don't think Lonzo is in play here. I think a few well connected people have said the Lakers are shopping Ball for assets the Spurs would actually want.

It's kind of a shame Ball comes with a circus because he's going to be a heck of a point guard and the Spurs badly need one of those.

As I have said for a while, the lakers are gonna have to get a third team involved to try and make a deal for Kawhi.

I've seen articles saying that maybe the Lakers should simply stay the course and wait for these young guys develop into a good team rather than send out all their youth and picks and probably still lose to the warriors.

But after 5 consecutive losing seasons and 7 consecutive seasons under 50 wins, they may be too impatient.

Similar to Paul George, there was no way Lebron was opting in, purely because that'd be an idiotic financial move.

He may very well stay in Cleveland, but he'd want another 1+1 deal to be able to opt into next summer if he blows an Achilles or something.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Lonzo, Ingram, and Kuzma will never be as good as LeBron, Kawhi, and PG13.

LeBron makes significantly more money off court than he does on court.

He's still a savvy profiteer and if you think he'd pass up 30 million after blowing an Achilles you're off your rocker.

Considering he signed a 1+1y contract when he could have signed a 5y, then he signed a 2+1y contract when he could have signed a 5y contract, I would say you are wrong.

He likes having leverage. That has yet to impact him in any negative way financially, and has only benefited him financially.

Which was my point. He isn't worried about losing $35mm by blowing an Achilles which is why short contacts don't bother him.

I hear ya. My point was he will never stay in Cleveland without the leverage every summer anymore.

He won't be playing a contract year with them or anyone else.
