This would be a pretty unceremonial end to Parker's tenure. Kinda hate to see it end like that.

I hope to see Manu retire this summer. I hate to see him out there without Tim or Tony.

Pop, too. There's no sense in fighting anymore. LMA is good but he can't do it alone.

This team won't be good for the next year years. Plus he's coaching Team USA soon.

I think Manu will play one more season with his buddy Marco.

I don't think losing Tony is a big deal in terms of on the court contributions.
Kind of a big deal when we don't have a real point guard on the roster.

Well the Warriors and Cavs didn't have "real PGs" either and both made the finals. I'm okay having Murray start with White, Beli, and Manu handling as well.
Last year the Warriors had 7 different players that averaged as good or better than 4.5 assists per 36 minutes, minimum 800 minutes played.

The Spurs have Murray, Gasol, and Manu (other than Parker.)

That's my point (pun intended ). You don't need a ball dominant PG in today's NBA. If it's just about getting the ball up the court we have several options. Really anyone but LMA, Gasol and Green can dribble.

Would you look at that, he actually called Popovich to inform him of his decision.

Who'da thunk you could do that?

Wonder what the story is there. Figured he would retire a spur

It makes me sad how Popovich must feeling right now.

First Timmy leaves, who was like a son to him.

Then his wife dies earlier this year.

Then the whole Kawhi bull*****

And now Tony leaves.

No one on our team can really create for other people. The Warriors have a lot of people that can do that.

Patty is just a really short 2 guard. Murray isn't that consistently good at anything on offense.

We have no clue what White or Lonnie will be like under NBA pressure.

You don't need a John Stockton. But we don't have anyone that can create for others. Tony could do that even last year, though in limited minutes. Manu can in even more limited minutes.

Spurs are hurting bad at this.

I'm guessing that Pop was pretty open with him that he'd be the third PG behind Murray and White and Tony wanted to play a bigger role.

The Warrior's starting point guard is a two time MVP and all-NBA player.

Ours still dribbles off his own foot with alarming frequency.

Yeah, Gay and Lamarcus will be our primary creators and neither are good passers.

I'm assuming Manu retires.

Hell, at this point I'd offer Manu the starting PG position and give him 24mpg if he comes back.

and NOW the never ending comment from the SPURS..."We will have a truckload of $$$$$ for FA next year".

It has always been next year with the exception of LA.

This off season is an unmitigated disaster.

Probably as simple as what the report says, having a meaningful role vs an older, mentor role whose main job is to help get the young guys like Murray and White ready to take all the minutes. Maybe if the Spurs were going to contend, the calculus would be different.

Tony said last year he wanted to play until he was 40. He turned 36 in May.

Since KL was upset with TP's injury comment, I wonder if this opens the door to resign him.

At this point I have had it with KL. Send him to Minnesota for some young guns and as many picks as they will let go.
