Lol at fans blaming refs. This is a total team loss from owner/gm, all coaches, and players. Is it no wonder each year the Cowboys are the laughing stocks? Wow!
There's something to be said for acknowledging they deserved to lose, while also realizing the refs ****ed them on the last play. If he doesn't plot through Dak and sets the ball immediately he easily gets the spike off. That cost them a full 2 seconds.
I complete disagree, and so did Tony Romo on the broadcast. He said "You don't hand the ball to your center, you turn around and find the ref".
How did Dak and the linemen expect the ref to squeeze through and spot the ball in less than 2 seconds, after sprinting 25 yards? They weren't thinking, plain and simple. They were playing by the seat of their pants, and it cost them. They played undisciplined football all night. The last play was simply the tip of that iceberg.
Yeah, it was failed all around.
Fail to run it.
Fail to not call the unnecessary roughness on the tackle. We've seen pussier **** called all year all over the league.
Fail to not hand it to the ref.
Fail to spike it when it was clear it wouldn't even leave a second on the clock.
Just a perfect end to this season.
I thought it was actually a pretty nice play call. You get an easy 15-20 and get the bal snapped again. Dak just ran a little too far and failed to get the ball to the ref.
I think it is exactly that which makes it a pretty stupid play call. You leave open the huge possibility that you don't get down the field, don't get set, and don't get the ball snapped in time. AT BEST- all of those stars align, and you get 1 shot at the end zone.
Rather than taking those precious seconds and running 2, possibly 3 plays, which are controlled, settled, and planned. No, instead the run puts your whole season on the results of a mad scramble and an ensuing desperation play.
I would argue that is a pretty stupid play call, all things considered.
