There is some fudge room in the defensive stats... gave up a ton of crap yards to 3 teams who we blew out and simply played prevent against.

But there is also the flip side where our turnovers are covering up a lot of warts. Like it was said, way too many big plays on the ground and through the air.

I'm really hoping that the return of Tank and Gallimore really solidify this defensive line. Tank will raise the talent level and Gallimore, at the very least, will provide another solid rotational player. I can't wait for 3rd and long and we only have to rush 4 guys... Parsons & Gregory on the edges with Tank and Osa in the middle. Nasty!

This is kind of a dumb comparison, but this season has a 2012 Aggie football feel. Started with a loss to a good team but gaining steam behind an amazing offense. The defense has plenty of warts, but there are also some talented guys on the mix helping find ways to off the field so that it is basically middle-of-the-pack statistically

It also feels a heckuva lot like 2016 (Dak/Zeke rookie year). Started out with a loss but then they got on a roll. Had to look it up... that team was 11-1 before losing a couple late season games as they prepped for the playoffs... where they got double teamed by the refs & Aaron Rogers (remember the 15 yard too many men in the huddle penalty... I sure as hell do!!!! Seriously WTF!!!!).

The great news for us is our offense is way more potent than the 2016 squad and I'm not sure if you can call the defense better, but certainly take the ball away more than the 2016 D.

That 2016 massively overachieved. They played a slow, ball control offense that ate up clock and protected a pretty unimpressive defense. By the end of the season the formula was working to perfection though and Dak was not playing like a rookie at all. I personally still wish they'd have gone back to Romo late in the season to see how far they could make it.

At any rate, this team is more dynamic in just about every way possible. 2016 had a better backup QB and thats about it.

Yeah, Romo looked on point in the few reps he got against Philly in the season finale. I wish they would have let him play the whole game and see what they had.

At least the last play of his career was a beautiful TD pass.

Yes because after that, Mark Sanchez came in and showed us exactly why he was no longer a starting QB.

Trade deadline is on Nov 2nd. This is definitely a team you take a shot with. Curious if we make any moves.

Names of interest that have been speculated in the media that might be available for a trade:

NY Jets FS Marcus Maye
Denver CB Kyle Fuller (sounds like he's the odd man out on their depth chart)
Pittsburgh CB Joe Haden

Anyone else? Think we make a move?

We've just about got the NFC East wrapped up with 1 week still to play in Oct. All 3 rivals will have 5 losses at the end of today

I don't think Dallas losses 5 games this year and the division title is a foregone conclusion.

Why? I don't play for the team... my thoughts don't affect how they play. But this division is over. To have any shot NY, Wash, or Philly would have to win out.

It's over!

The division isn't even worth thinking about this year. If this team keeps improving and stays healthy they are contenders.

Playing at MN gonna be a tough one I think. They seem to always play to their competition. They've barely beaten the lesser teams but they've also been right there with the good ones.

Their WR are gonna test us big time.

On the road on Halloween night is gonna be hard enough.......

Add in that it's at a place that gives you problems, and that makes it even scarier

That said, if this team didn't let the crap that New England and the refs threw at them get to them, they shouldn't let the vikes either

I just now realized they are playing Sunday Night. Of course they are! Friggin A! If there is a holiday that we want to enjoy the NFL is gonna put the Cowboys on the TV.

Welp, I guess I won't be watching this game live!

Yeah, I think the mindset needs to be about home field advantage...forget the division, that's over.

We need at least one home playoff game.

If it's for the #1 seed, I could see them flexing it. A lot has to happen for that to be the case though.

Could you guys imagine if we actually won a super bowl in the romo / Garrett era?

It would've resulted in the most boring "America's game" ever. Our 3 representatives would've been witten, Garrett, and romo. Garrett would've talked about the "process" the whole time and been the most boring guy ever, which he is, but witten is also the only guy I know of who unretired from football to make people forget that he was really bad at announcing games.

They are both nice guys, but Garrett and witten would've produced an awful America's game edition.

I have a negative vibe about this game. Minn can score some points and I worry that Cook may go off.

I'm less worried about the bad magic of halloween and more worried about my ability to perform halloween activities with 3 young kids, and catch the game, at the same time.

Exactly. My kids aren't young anymore, but we still have 1 that likes to trick or treat and I love to walk the neighborhood and interact with all the great people.

Thanksgiving when we are all sitting at home with family... that I get... but why do you waste the Cowboys in prime time when there will be millions of people out walking around and not sitting in front of the tv?

Trick r treating will be done on the east coast by the time of kickoff (8:30pm)

Most festivities in our nearby neighborhoods are done by about 30min after dark. Sunset is around 6:40pm for the DFW area. That gives most families an hour of twilight to trick r treat and get back to the house in time for kickoff.

West coast? Sure, they'd still be walking around depending upon COVID protocols. But I doubt they're gonna watch the game anyway. And they'd still likely be able to catch the second half.

I plan on taking the kids trick r treating and then settle in front of the tv with my "dad tax" while the kids sit in front of the tv and scour their loot from the night.

Assuming we are a contender... one of the teams standing in our way just lost a big piece. JJ Watt likely done for the year with shoulder surgery.

I give Arizona credit for going for it with some of their moves, but this will be the 4th time in 6 years that JJ hasn't finished half a season. Not a great move when the odds say he's not gonna be there when you need him.

Hearing lots of talk about Collins now that he's back. He's not just getting his job back immediately and I friggin love that! Call it a culture change or whatever, but Kudos to McCarthy and his staff!

Think about the team wide impact. You want your back-ups to be ready when called upon... then give them the respect they deserve when they go out there and earn it! Guarantee you that everybody on that team sees what's going on and knows what's up.

Joe Philbin is a damn good OL coach. I trust his judgement. Collins is certainly a better RT than Steele, but is Steele a better RT than Williams is LG?

Not sure what the answer is, but I do know that Collins at LG and Martin at RG would be the most dominate guard tandem in the league, IMO.

Agree with all that. They are definitely going to explore Collins at LG. Just goes back to my point... no starter is safe.

So heavy rumors Dak isn't playing on Sunday. Dallas started as a 2.5 point favorite and is now a 2.5 point dog

Daks comments this afternoon did bring in a lot of doubt. He didn't say he was out, but that sounded like a guy mentally preparing to be out
