Well this is getting interesting. To think, I was somewhat optimistic about this season and the future. Then, Kluber lasts one inning, Elvis does nothing and gets hurt, Odor still can't find it, Santana and Calhoun battle injuries, Mike Minor runs out of gas after 3 or 4 innings......I could go on.
To me, at this point I think you totally rebuild. That being said, I wouldn't trade Gallo. Gallo, Solak, Taveres are three guys you can build around. Long ways to go though. Is there a worse team in the league in terms of power and production from the two corner infield spots?
Gallo is going to need to get paid relatively soon and his agent is Scott boras.
I'd trade him now if it's a good offer because Gallo won't be around when this team is good again.
We've done deals with Boras before, that's not necessarily a reason to move him. Beltre, Tex, Elvis?, and some others are Boras guys.
But on Gallo, we either need to extend him soon, or trade him. Could even trade him this off-season if the right deal is not there now. Problem with Gallo is can we get the 2019 version of Gallo back? Lately he's been looking more like the 2017-2018 version of Gallo that barely hits above the Mendoza line. We need 2019 Gallo back... that version would bring a nice return in a trade. I have a feeling if we were to move Gallo now, we would be selling at a discount. He is young and seems to be a level-headed guy, I'd rather hang on to him and extend him and let him try to be the next "face" of the franchise.
