Yeah, brutal. The bats showed some life, but it was Denver, so let's not get too excited. Luke Jackson really shouldn't be on the roster. If you can't trust him to hold things down in a 6 run game, then he shouldn't be there. Yeah, Jimenez ultimately gave up the go ahead runs, but he had some bad BABIP luck and he came into a tough spot after Jackson had already given them new life.
Pretty nice bounce back in SF after the collapse in Denver. 2 extra inning wins, huge props to Raisel Iglesias, who I think is massively underappreciated.
But tonight's game was a lot of fun. Mike Harris hits a gs in his first at bat in 2 months and the offense erupts for 13 runs. And Grant Holmes is such a great story. He was on nobody's radar coming into the season, and he's turned into such an important piece to this staff. Great performance tonight.

Soem tough news though in that Minter is going to need surgery. Might have seen the last of him as a Brave.
Yeah, tough Minter news. It seemed like his stuff wasn't very sharp his last couple of outings, so I guess that explains it. I think he loves being a Brave, so hopefully he'll re-sign for a reasonable deal in the off-season. I do wonder if he has some desire to get back to Texas though, and might sign with the Astros or Rangers.

Austin Riley is out 6-8 weeks with a broken hand. So unless they go the NLCS, he's probably done. Just when the offense was starting to heat up. Not sure who steps in to play 3rd, unless they slide Merrifield over and call Nacho back up.

OK who had Ramon Laureano and Whit Merrifield not only starting but batting 2nd for the Braves is a key matchup in August on their 2024 Braves bingo card?
Braves swept the Twins after getting series wins vs Phils and Nats. Harris had a scare where he was hit by a pitch and missed a game but seems ok. Sale could be the Cy Young leader in the NL at this point.

I don't know when he quit posting, but they're playing really good baseball lately. 12-4 in their last 16 games. The bats are still inconsistent, but the pitching is so good. Sale is Cy Young for sure. All you have to do is get in the tournament and anything can happen...

Braves have won the first two vs the Rockies but need to keep winning as the Mets are only half a game back. Merrifield got hit in the head the other day and hasn't been in the lineup since. Lopez goes tonight.

Feels like the playoffs have already started. Obviously the next 3 games are huge!
Too bad the Braves aren't in the crappy American League. Making up 2 games on the Mets and/or D-Backs in 6 games is going to be a tall task. Having NY on the schedule is fortuitous, but they're playing so well. Hard to be optimistic.
Tonight it begins. Have to win 2 of 3 and really could use a sweep.

Whoop! Solid win tonight. I was having to listen on the radio broadcast. Announcers were saying weather is supposed to get real nasty in ATL, possibly starting tomorrow. Something to keep an eye on.

Today couldn't have gone any better. Braves win, Fried was sensational and the bullpen (Iglesias) only had to throw one pitch. Mets lost. DBacks lost. As frustrating as this season has been, we're sitting in a good a spot as possible going into these last 3 days. This is exciting stuff.
Just feels like the playoffs have already started!
The other big game yesterday was the Twins losing as now the Royals have clinched a playoff spot. Hope the Braves sent them a truckload of booze to celebrate.

Lots of scenarios can play out over the next 30 hours, but the Braves have the simplest route. Win 1 game out of the 3 remaining and they're in. Or if Arizona loses today, they're in. Should be manageable.
Don't really care about the seeding. Either the Padres or Brewers in round one, Philly or LA in round 2 and the other in the nlcs. But I like the idea of actually playing the wc round this year instead of having a bye. I think that was detrimental last year.

Would have been nice to wrap things up. Interesting double header tomorrow. Whoever wins game 1 is in, and thus in theory should take things easy game two and not play stars or use their better arms. Arizona needs one team to win both games.
