Forty lost a ton of velocity, and I'm not sure he has the mentality to be consistently good. I did read that service time came into play on the DFA though. His 5 years of service time was approaching, and with the shortened season, the time for 2020 was being prorated to the point that he would have been credited for 5 years in another week or so. Had he reached 5 years, he would have been able to reject minor league assignment in the event he cleared waivers (which he did) and become a free agent.
So, between his issues and Sean Newvomb's inability to take his next step, the rotation is a MAJOR concern. Soroka and Fried seem locked in, and maybe Wright will develop rapidly. Maybe Touki will figure things out. There are a lot of young options, but I'm not sure any of them are ready.
